Does the rx350h have too many issues?
Lexus makes a RX350h, RX450h+, and RX500h F Sport Performance (there is a different model called F Sport Handling that is not a hybrid). All three are hybrids with different power trains. Here is a thread on RX500h F Sport Performance transmission issues: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/hyb...ion-issue.html
I have a 2023 RX350h (the drop downs on registration do not allow this model).
Definitely, this car has WAY too many issues. Purchased brand new in 2023, have been back to the dealer multiple times for mostly software related and electronic issues - have been told by their “geek” that this is a new model year and is “just buggy.” Not what you want to hear when you’ve spent $80k on a brand new car!
things like the car’s electronic locks won’t unlock sometimes when you have the key fob in range. Pulling on the handle doesn’t work, or there’s a significant delay (30 sec) where I ended up getting the key fob out and had to unlock that way. Several times had my dog and grandkids in the vehicle and this was damn scary.
Other electronic issues, such as the button to close and lock the hatch doesn’t work, consistently. I stopped another Rx350h driver I saw in the parking lot if they encountered the same issue - the guy laughed and said he gave up on that feature. Never worked. Again, my dealer’s geek said “sometimes those things just don’t work.” So when you’re taking stuff out of the vehicle, you have to close the hatch with the close button, then run around to a door handle and lock the vehicle separately, or go digging for the key fob. And these are just a few of the MANY issues I’ve reported to the dealer.
We now have an issue after driving it for 1-1/2 yrs, where the brakes are failing - when I depress on the brake, such as rolling to a stop sign, the brakes “let up” slightly - and I have to depress even harder. Very unsettling.
We are ready to sell it for a more dependable vehicle.

I am considering the 2024 RX hybrid and was wondering if there are any serious issues about which to be concerned. I know every car has quirks, especially software issues, but have there been any reports of engine, battery, suspension, or transmission issues? This would be my third Lexus, so I know they are generally reliable. Just want to do my due diligence. Thanks!
Not only was 2023 a model change for RX it was also a huge change and leap forward in technology for the otherwise very conservative vehicle.
Some of the latest cool technologies were adopted in 2023 RX (electronic door handle, electronic Shifter, digital key, cloud based navigation, over the air updates, new Turbo engine, new Turbo + hybrid system (500h), to name only few.
Like anything else, when new things are introduced there are always issues that weren't caught in testing.
If you expect a fully proven trouble free car like before, you might not be happy.
If you don't mind some minor nuisances the 2024 or 2025 RX 350h has a powertrain that's not new and is proven and all the other new tech, but 1 or 2 years to fix some of the glitches.
So far we've had ours for about a year and are really happy with the 2024 RX350h.
Sure, still has issue with: digital key , profiles, navigation for anyone other than primary driver, but I'm hoping that Lexus will figure these out and push updates to the car.

I just came across this post that's about 5 months old. My 2023RX350h is now 21 months old. I've had zero problems other than the unreliable digital key, which I finally gave up on. As someone else posted, the MPGs for a car this size is amazing. About double what I was getting on my old 2020RX regular gas vehicle.
Here goes with my complaints:
-design flaw 1. In order to make the car look sleek the door is the guard to the wheels. When you open the door there is dirt and grim on the edge. The edge of the doors look beat up because all the road debris and rocks hit the as you drive. The bottom of the doors are always cover in grime which get’s on you clothes if you bush up against it. You don’t notice this flaw until you use the car,
-design flaw 2. My car came with a weird plastic wrap on the bumper that easily peels and looks TERRIBLE. Lexus dealership told me this is to protect the bumper and I should have it rewrapped…whatever that means…another bad design feature,
design flaw 3. If your car dies (which my less then 1 1/2 year old card did) there is no way to get into the car. If I had had my handicap husband with me, or was in a dark parking lot in an unsafe area or it was pouring rain I would have been out of luck. First you have to watch a U-Tube video to figure out how to expose the key hole. It requires a charge card and a certain amount of finesse. The cover is a flimsy piece of plastic. Next you insert the key and you can hear it unlock the door but nothing happens, you still can’t get in your car. It took four attempts to reach Lexus road side service, They guy they finally sent from AAA was terrific but he also couldn’t get in the car to open the hood. After 10 minutes he found a hidden latch under the door handle that had to be pulled while turning key….seriously your in crises with a car that won’t open and you are suppose to figure this out but you can’t get to the manual in the car? What idiot thought that was a good idea.
Design flaw 4. The trunk of the car is unusually low and nothing over 24 inches can fit in the back. I’ve driven Lexus’s for years and this new trunk is worthless if you like to haul things. The bumper has no rubber protection for when you are putting things in the car (my husband’s in a wheel chair. I know to lift the chair and make sure it doesn’t touch the very fragile bumper but others sometime don’t lift it as high and the slightest thing dings the weird plastic wrap). Not a good car if you using a wheelchair or stroller or anything other bulky items on a regular basis.
Really miss my old work horse Lexus’s. This car misses the mark on so many levels. Good gas mileage….

Spent two hours yesterday waiting for the AAA tow truck for my wife’s 2023 Nissan Arriya. It would not start after charging at EVGO. I had a chance to speak to the AAA driver who related the following…least towed cars: 1.Lexus 2.Toyota 3.Honda. Most towed cars: 1.Land Rover 2.BMW 3.Audi. This for the North Denver area including Boulder, Longmont. Anecdotal of course but it backs up what we’ve heard for years!
22 Months, 25,000 miles no issues. Averages 35MPG in the Summer but drops to about 31MPG in the Winter always on 87 octane. Many long drives of over 500 miles and this car is super comfortable and auto driving features are reliable and lowers stress and fatigue. Very happy with this purchase.
2023 RX350h with every option. We've had it for 20 months of ownership and 20750 miles. My only problem was the saggy dash pad; it was fixed in month 1.
Reading through this thread, the only "problem" that is ongoing and mentioned by someone else is the two rear hatch close buttons. The close button works 10 out of 10 times. The close + lock hatch button works 2 out of 10 times if you finesse it correctly, which is usually a firm and slightly longer than necessary hold. I hit the close + lock hatch button enough times and walked away to turn around and find my RX hatch still open. I just gave up and always hit the close button next to it and locked it via the key fob or door handle buttons. Annoying, yes, but I've owned enough vehicles with power trunks and power hatches to know you damn well better turn around and look to see if your trunk or hatch closed correctly. My ES, one time out of 50, wouldn't fully close, and my Genesis Sedan, one time out of 25, wouldn't close. At least the close (not close + lock) button on the RX always seems to work.
I love the gas mileage for an SUV. Generally, I get 33-34mpg on 87 dino juice while driving at breakneck Texas freeway speed (cruise is always set to 80).
I wish I could have gotten a factory hitch on it when I got it. However, I was among the first RXs sold in the DFW area when Toyota still had issues making enough cars in 2023. I also wish I could have gotten an RX450h+ for the 30-40 miles of fully electric driving, but after reading about people's problems with that niche RX model, I think I might have been blessed not to have bought one. We have a fully electric F-150 Lightning ER for when we really want to save gas.
