Sorry to resurrect this thread - just got a 2013 rx450h and this is my first comment having read a lot of threads.
Much of what im reading seems to be about custom settings using the Lexus operating system, and how you can't change the default to sport. In my last couple of cars (Countryman, Touareg) I used VeePeak OBD2 to toggle the setting so that sport was the default on engine start - is that not an option for the RX / Lexus?
(is the OBD good for anything bar the Dr Prius app?)
In most cases, Lexus cars like the RX450h start in a default driving mode that balances performance with fuel efficiency. This setup helps with gas mileage and keeps emissions down. From what I've seen, you can't change these default start settings through the regular vehicle menus or interfaces.
Can someone please tell me if there is any way to make my sport mode the default mode? My driving style doesn't agree with economy mode. I know, I know I won't get as good of gas milage. That's ok
Thank you for responding to my question. I want to keep my RX450H in the sport mode all of the time but when I turn off the car it defaults back to a normal setting. Do you know of any way to have it stay in the Sport mode?

We have different year RX450 and I do not have your model owners manual.
The generic info regarding Lexus Sport mode is the setting will revert to Normal but for some it can stay. They refer to the Owners Manual for this information.
From my vantage, I suggested to check for ECO mode, which is pertinent to hybrids. On my dash a green ECO is lit when it is engaged, and it is a sticky setting. In the background it forces the RX to stay with electric power longer before drawing more power from the gasoline engine.
Regrettably I am not answering your question directly, but suggesting an alternative. You may already be using it or there is a possibility that your model RX may not have that option available.
