Auto Acceleration and brake failure
We just purchased our 2022 NX450H+ last October 2022. Yesterday while exiting the cemetery, the vehicle accelerated from. I pumped the brakes to the floor but the vehicle did not slow down. It continued to cruise at that constant speed for 20 seconds while I swerved around vehicles and pedestrian. I ended up driving up the yard and ran into several tombstones which eventually stopped the car when the battery was partially torn off. Front left of the vehicle and wheel is also gone but airbags never deployed. Has anyone experienced auto acceleration and brake failure? I talked to Lexus and ICBC but looks like they won't launch an investigation. Anyone know who I should reach out to find out what happened? I have adequate insurance to cover, but I'm hesitant to get into a Lexus replacement vehicle.
Update1: Our insurance company did an internal investigation and told us the auto acceleration may be the result of an issue with the car computer and asked us to coordinate with Lexus to do a further investigation. We have been following up with Lexus for about a week and a half with no reply.
Update2: Lexus came back to us regarding their investigation despite us sending over the police incident report and describing the whole situation. Car was deemed total loss last week by ICBC so they weren't about to test drive the vehicle. Based on the computer system (I'm guessing similar to the blackbox?) they determined that the accelerator was pressed 100% for nearly 8 seconds. Considering how the vehicle claims to accelerate from 0-60MPH in 5.5seconds, this would have meant we would have catapulted and the vehicle would certainly not have cruised at a steady speed...they had no response to this. I told them at that speed a mere tombstone wouldn't have been able to stop the vehicle. I also asked them what data was retrieved 20 seconds prior when the vehicle initially failed and I was pumping the breaks. There was no investigation done and no data available...Seems kind of sketchy. Sounds like Lexus is covering their ***. All in all, this is the second Lexus vehicle we've owned in our life time and both vehicle have had critical failures. Safe to say, we will never be recommending this brand again.

Feb 10, 2022 In bumper to bumper traffic for 45 minutes. Brakes failed completely, pushed brake pedal to floor. ABS did not show BRAKE notification and rolled into car in front. Very slow impact, no damage. 4 people in our car witnessed the incident and freaked that the car would not stop. Brakes worked after hitting car. Had our suicide car towed to Lexus. Case turned over to product liability. On Feb 28 engineers sent but we’re told they have 30 days to review data and event log. Anyone else had this issue and how was it resolved? Thanks
Hope you didn't sustain much bodily harm. Thank you for sharing your experience. I've had nothing but bad experience after bad experience from Lexus. Still haven't gotten the GreenBC rebate and also they were withdrawing us payments for another individual's vehicle. It's been half year and they have yet to send us a cheque. Been on nearly 10 calls with nobody taking responsibility and now we don't even have the vehicle but we're down $7K from rebates that we had to pay in cash upfront and unauthorized withdrawals. I'll try to reach out to product liability division, thank you so much for your reply.
