Apparently I'm not the only one that thinks the A3 TDI is the HS's closest competitor. They screwed up the description of the HS's powertrain as coming from a Prius rather than TCH, but otherwise, an interesting comparison. They did forget to mention the difference in reliability between the two brands, which are at almost opposite ends of the spectrum.

As for fuel economy, I guess it depends on whether you spend more time on the highway or in the city. Even the gas A3 comes close to the HS in highway fuel economy, though it requires premium. City driving, of course, is where a hybrid shines.
