I am on my 4th week and 2nd tank of gas. So far on the second tank of gas (over half way through) I am at 42.9. How? Watching the cars in front of me is the biggest deal. Look ahead and if you see a red light or cars ahead of you with tail lights on then you know to take your foot off the accelerator. Depending on how far you are away, you should start braking now slightly so that you will not come to a complete stop. It takes a lot more energy to get the car rolling again than to keep it rolling. I also do the pulse and glide technique when I can. I also have yet to turn on the a/c, but it is getting close. I am lucky in that I drive from a garage at my home to a garage at work. While in parking lots and school zones I use the EV mode exclusively. I tend to stay in the green portion of the gas usage meter (the word is not forming in my head for some reason), when pressing the gas pedal. Yes, I start out slower than most of the traffic, but what is funny is I am right there with them at the next light or in the rush hour traffic.

I drive in Dallas and mostly during rush hour traffic. I get better gas mileage in traffic then I do going 60 on the highway. I do not do a lot of short trips which would reduce my MPG. All family stuff is in a larger vehicle since we are a family of 5.

Oh, I almost forgot, my tires are inflated to 43 PSI.

Wow, nice mpg! I think the A/C is part of it, as I've noticed a 2mpg drop when the temps hit 90, and I had the A/C running one time while parked, and it drained the battery in 5 minutes. How fast you go on the highway is another - doing 60 instead of 75 should really help mpg.

Interestingly, I haven't noticed much change in gas mileage with the a/c on with my HS or Prius. (This is with the cars in motion, not parked.)

Hi Agie95,

Way to go on the mileage! It will only get better as the HS breaks in.

You're spot on with:
Yes, I start out slower than most of the traffic, but what is funny is I am right there with them at the next light or in the rush hour traffic.
Gig'em!
