I can not only suggest but show you pictures later tonight when the wife gets home.
On our old GX, we had a local shop wire the harness for our Pilot controller. After the wreck, I mounted this one in a sweet spot under what I refer to as the emissions plug.
We had the controller installed at a local place the works on horse trailers. I'll see if I can get the name brand, model number, maybe even a picture.
Here's a picture of the controller. It's made by pilot. I mounted it, using one wrie tie, to the plastic trim around the Dignostic plug under the steering column.
Sorry for the blury picture, but you'll get the gist. There's a pre-wired plug that is taped to a wire harness under the steering column. Remove the lower panel to access it. I had my harness adapter plug tied into my brake controller by a local shop, but you can purchase these harness plugs separately.
Thank you, but I was looking for a "built-in" installation instead of hanging under the dash. My son did it in his Toyota Tundra and it looks super-clean!
I was toying with making a baffle and flush mounting the pilot controller in the fuse compartment, but it wasn't worth the effort. What you don't see from these pictures is how incognito this controller is. It's almost hidden under the dash and out of the way.
Has anyone mounted the brake controller in the glove box? That would definitely make it "out of the way and out of sight"!
It's been a long time since I have towed anything that needed a brake controller...but I am pretty sure that you need to be able to reach it in case you need to manually apply the trailer brakes. So the glove box would not really work.
