I use OBDLink on my '23, selected 2021 during setup. It measures TC and pan temp just fine.

Went on a 12 hour trip from MD to ME (plenty of highway inclines) the other day and watched temps for the entire trip. average engine oil and trans was 195. The TQ went over 200 numerous times, The hottest was 215 while crawling in traffic at 25 mph. Highway was about 195 as well on average.

What is the process to pin the transmission thermostat open?

Because you know better than the engineering group at Toyota, or what is your reason to do so?

Useless comment. Why bother? Surely you have better things to do or not??

Please steer back to thread topics.

Even a strong paper clip will pin it open

What might I be doing wrong? I don’t see TC or pan temp as options. I downloaded the Toyota 2021 Enhanced Diagnostics but no extra PIDs are visible.

Guidance appreciated!

Disregard! I figured it out!

Just got back from the same 12 hour trip, this time it was 95 degrees outside. Steady 200 F on the trans, 195 on the oil and saw as high as 230 F on the trans briefly. This is after pinning the thermostat open before the trip.

My issue is that my steering wheel pulls from odb and my exhaust does too. I can't add anything else but I really want the data.
