#2 is the torque converter outflow so it will get hot.

What are your #1 pan temps peaking out at?

That seems warmer than I am used to. Do you know if you are in AT lockup? There is a gauge called "Status of the lock up" in OBD Fusion/Link.

Another thing you can try is pinning the AT fluid thermostat open if you want to do a temp test to see if that drops temps.

What is status lock up? Just took it for short drive, at2 temp peaked at 212 degrees at1 peaked at 93...but mostly stayed around 91 (guess i was wrong about at1 before) status lock up did report a 1 briefly a few times....coolant and engine oil stayed between 91 and 95

It tells you when the torque converter is locked up. 1=locked / 0=unlocked

You will generally see cooling when locked

IMO: If temp #1 is normally at or below 200 cruising around you should be fine.

I use OBD Link with this adapter. It isn't the cheapest but works well with app, adapter gets regular firmware updates but it can also read TPMS data on the 460. IMO: It's like a portable Techstream for troubleshooting too.

This past weekend we had near record temps in MN.

On the outside temp display on the GX Dash, it showed 100 degrees. ATF #1 was running around 202F and ATF #2 was spiking around 215F in stop and go highway road construction traffic and both temps equalized (as the do) while cruising at 75 MPH at 202F.

I don't have the Cooler.

Engine oil also was at 202F.

On post 36 I have a graph of my stock versus cooler and pinned thermostat on a drive to and from destination over local mountain pass.

I didn't monitor but I know the cooler was working over I-40 thru the smoky mountains this past roadtrip... I had the cruise set at 80 mph, suspension on sport mode and she was just hauling (for an SUV) thru the curves... so silky smooth.
The tranny cooler is the best mod, besides the rear door table, I've done to our GX.

Hi All,
Yesterday I towed 4000 pound trailer in sports suspension mode and automatic transmission for 200 miles. I got ATF 2 temperature peaked around 230 some time and most of the time around 210. I do not have the auxilary OEM or aftermarket transmission cooler. with out trailer I had ATF 2 around 205 to 200. is ATF 2 temperature 230 is very bad?
Do I need OEM cooler or after market Hayden 678 or 679.
Thanks.

My ATF 2 hit 225 this morning driving on the highway to work...with aux cooler and no trailer...but was going up somewhat of a grade...cruise control set to 75+ mph...so i think yours looks better than mine

I dont remember what My ATF 1 temps were, but i think it stayed around 200.
