I would think the camera feed connection would be present at the mirror harness located door panel. It make sense that non-mirror camera would not have the connect inside mirror housing, since it is an extra run of wire has nothing to do with the mirror itself. But body wire harness that take the camera feed to Park Asset ECU is likely presents, which is also the evidence why the front camera harness is present regardless wether there is an actual camera there. Based on my reading, all camera feeds into Park Assist ECU, and I didn't see different ECUs for GX with or without Drive Assist Package. Under Techstream, system initialization menu, there is a option that you can select with or without Sideview Television Camera, and also the selection under camera initialization, you can select with or without MTS. Those are probably where you can enable the cameras after Park Asist ECU detects there is the camera presents. I will be testing those out later this month after I received my parts. There is the step by step camera initialization precedes under FSM which seems pretty straight forward.

I see quite a number of hits that the cameras Toyota/Lexus uses are stepped down to 6 volts.

Here is going to be a cheap test with an OEM camera that is actually for the rear tailgate of a '08-'13 Toyota Tacoma

$38 so I thought what the heck. It would require a custom mount if it worked on the front.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rear-View-B...r/162581484069

Connector at least visually looks like a match to the connector on front of GX in earlier pages of the thread.

Saw this on another site.

The surround plastic mount looks like it comes off

Acrad, if this works will your front video be a mirror image?

That's a really good point.. oh well at least it was only $38 and not $380 or more. I guess we chalk this up as a compatibility test.

I picked up a cheap used OEM side mirror camera ($79) as well. I'll see if I can tap into the existing wiring connector after seeing success with front. I'll probably need to use some rubber grommets or something else to engineer how the OEM is mounted on bottom.

OEM mirror in previous post. Note the raised part doesn't exist on non-cam models.

Here we have some internal pics of a mirror from a forum member of a Driver Support mirror.

For what I learned, the connector showed in picture for mirrors with camera consists of 17 wires. I would assume the non camera ones will have the missing wires. If someone happens to see the male end of connector on door panel, should be able to figure out which wires are for camera to ECU.

I've got the wife supporting doing this... that's 9/10 of the battle. :-)

Comparing photos and camera I bought I'll be keying in on the yellow, white, red and black wires.. along with some wiring diagram double takes just to be sure.

Has anyone have some photos with front door panel removed? It might be a quick way to determine if the sideview camera has been pre-wired.It should be next or near the mirror harness, its a rounded 4 wires connect. If you look the photo posted by Acrad, it is right next to the main connector from the mirror assembly. I remembered I saw someone posted photos and procedures on how to remove door panel, not sure if those photos may also reveal the wire harnesses.

tecman's speaker upgrade thread from years past has some..

unfortunately not encouraging unless different harness is used on base versus premium on '10-'13

I did found that one too. Unless there are more wires or harness are hidden behind within that area, or as you said if there are major differences between base and premier (or luxury), then this would kill the idea. One possibility of positive sign would be "....Drive Support Package requires Luxury for 2014+..." statement, maybe the wire preparation maybe different from base.... I guess until I take mine apart when I get back before certainty.

i wonder how easy the power window switch pops up? Might look around to see if anyone has done that. I’d only need a small amount of room to get my camera scope in there.

power winder switch just held by clips, very easy to pop up. Just using the pry tool. just around the edge of the wood with panel.

Power window switch does pop out easily. Unfortunately, I couldn't really see much in this area as I ran into that white insulation in the door. I came in from the top and saw more but inconclusive. I got down to where that plastic retainer is on the mirror wiring. There is a clear plastic piece on the left of the scope picture. It seemed a little wider here like something maybe taped but think it might be part of the retainer...but ultimately inconclusive.
