Trailer Light Connectors - No Power to Daytime Running Light Pins
I have a 2015 Lexus GX 460. While hooking up my trailer to the four pin connector with the headlights on I caused a spark. Thereafter there was no power to the daytime running light (DRL) pins on either the four pin connector or the seven pin connector. Power remained to the other pins as appropriate. Heretofore the DRL on the trailer worked fine when hook to the Lexus and they still work when connected to another vehicle. Obviously, the short that occurred when connecting the raider with the lights on damaged something or burned a fuse, but I cannot diagnose it.
I have ave checked all of the fuses under the hood and in the fuse box under the drivers side dash. A 30amp fuse under the hood was blown and replaced. Mind you, the DRLs worked on the vehicle, but there was and remains no power to the DRL pins in either trailer connector.
I have seen reference to a “hidden” fuse, but have yet to find it (if one in fact exists).
i am at a loss to figure out what else needs to be checked. Any help???????

I have now also tried replacing the relay under the hood. Still no power to the daytime running light Pins in either trailer connector. My local Lexus dealer was no help short of agreeing to let them try to diagnose it at their pricy hourly rate.
Any ideas?

Sorry that you have not received an answer here. I don’t tow anything so I have no clue to your problem.

OP: I'll try to look later when I can but in meantime you can find free wiring diagrams here:
http://www.bbbind.com/tech_database.html
Does your trailer use the 4 or 7 pin connector? Trailer brakes and a brake controller? If no controller the 7 pin won't have power.

Looking at wiring diagram it could be a failed diode or relay.
On site listed above after you login and select correct vehicle the trailer wiring will be under:

My trailer uses the 4 pin connector. All lights on the trailer work when connected to another vehicle. There is no power to the DRL pin in both the 7 pin and the 4 pin connector.

These are from the FSM. You may need to zoom in on them. Hopefully this helps.

Same issue here, no power to DRL's
I've checked every fuse, that's not the issue. Like someone else here, when the trailer is hooked up to other vehicles the trailer running lights work. There is no power to the running light pin on the 4 pin connector. Has anyone found any solutions to this? Thank you!

Looks like there are some towing related relays in fuse box in engine bay. Might want to look at #1

#16 check out too?
I haven't come across this issue in postings of years past. This may be one of those that has to be metered out with your electrical tester and scrutinize closely the wiring diagrams that are available here.

You may want to check out the Tundra forums as well.

This doesn't help OP as he already replaced but here are associated relay and fuse under the hood for tail and trailer lights

Any solution to this?
Using a test light to figure out what color trailer wire was for the brake lights and the same thing just happened to me. Spark and now no DRLs.

- What 30A fuse did you find blown?
- When you're using DRL to describe the lights on the GX460, is that the actual DRL (aka front facing lights that come one independent of the running lights on the rear) or does that mean the headlights on and tail lights illuminated (even when not pressing on the brake)?
No DRLs on the GX or no power to running lights on the trailer connection? Did a fuse pop again this time?
Either way, the spark and subsequent no DRL lights (regardless of which it ends of being, from my above question) is a good indication of an electrical short of some fashion. You're bridging a power carrying circuit and a ground circuit in a fashion that it's passing more power within the circuit than it's capable of handling or was ever intended to handle. The fuse that's popping should be the best indicator to know where to look deeper.
Do you have a digital voltmeter/multimeter to use, in place of a test light?
