Default any new recommendations for “touch up #paint ?

ever heard of touch up direct dot com ? or dr color chip?

i parked a tiny bit too close to my textured garage wall and my daughter accidentally hit the wall with her door and there are a few teeny tiny chips along the edge of her door. is this something i can tackle on my own or should i ask a detailer to do it?

i've had some good success with the DR color chip kit on my Black GX. Most of them you really can't see unless you were looking for them. You may have to apply it several times just to have enough paint to fill in the chip but I didn't mind.

But yea, this kit won't work on all chips, maybe if you post a picture, we might be able see if a DIY kit may be able to repair it.

Thanks for posting this. I used Dr Color Chip on my GX and was discouraged with the filling the chip. I figured I would do a second fill and haven't gotten around to it.

I feel that the chip blends in more when you fill it in several layers than you would if you were to just put a blob of paint on the chip and let it dry.

The paint usually dries quickly so I do several chips at a time, have a beer and then go back around for round 2.

Your Lexus dealer should have it. Exact color and exact year for yours.

I get mine there though took a week to come in.

Good luck with "very light layers" with the factory thick paint. Unfortunately it hasn't worked for me.

Default Paint Chips

If you have the Starfire Pearl the touch up paint will not match up well with a touch up kit. It is a tricoat paint and needs to have the base coat put down then the pearl coat and then the clear coat. It came out darker when put on with a touch up kit. I sanded and sprayed each separately and then it matched perfectly.

ugh... so you probably won't be able to relate to this, but now i gather that the factory paint is thick like poor quality drugstore nail polish that sat around for too long with the cap unscrewed? gloopy and impossible to spread thin!
