I totally understood what you experienced and saw in regards to everyone shoveling for hours. I almost felt bad when all I had to do was wipe off some snow, warmed up my truck, and off I went. Since the snow was still fresh and soft, I bashed through the snowdrift and whatever was plowed in front of me on Sunday morning (snow reached the upper bumper level). I had so much time that I decided to drive to the beach since I knew the highways would be fairly empty; but alas, the beach was closed
Wanted to go see a snow-covered beach, but no luck. Not only was the beach closed, but snow did not stick onto the sand -could've been the wind blowing it away, snow not accumulating onto sand for too long, or that a snow-covered beach sighting itself is like seeing a unicorn...

Curious who here uses 4LO for snow. I've always used 4HI over the years. The GX even comes with 2nd gear start which I've used in the snow.
I've found that 4LO sometimes puts too much torque to the wheels in snow (and sand).

This was Saturday afternoon amidst the storm, I had to be in Long Island the night before and woke up, cleaned out and headed home before the so called 2:30pm ban. Went home and parked on the street and woke up Sunday morning in even worse shape because of the damn snow plows!

You are right! 4LO is only for low speed crawls or if you are really in deep stuff and need some extra torque to climb out. You can get through the white stuff with the standard 4Hi and as you said 2nd Gear start alone. I think I was well over 30" stuck in the snow, so I locked my diff and selected 4LO. I tried to get out on standard 4HI and it didn't work, then tried with the diff locked, still better but not out, then also switched to 4LO. Also, for those of you out there trying these different combinations, please do not drive over 25mph with the center diff locked! Once you climb out, just switch her back to her native state and you will be on your way!

Nice report! I love seeing how capable the GX is. I of course chickened out and kept mine garaged. We had about 30" here in Loudoun. My husband's work truck is very capable and better to deal with the vast amounts of poor drivers here. Seriously, people trying to drive RWD vehicles blocking the roads and then some idiots in a big 4x4s come racing down the roads causing more accidents.
I took it out last year when it was not as bad and had no issues at all. Next deep powdery snow I'll take it out and try the different gears before everyone else gets out.
