Default Rodents ate car wiring on my 2014 GX460

The check engine + trac off sensors came on as I started my car yesterday. The dealership later notified me that my problem stemmed from rodents chewing through some of the wiring house around the engine (see photo) The rodents (rats) had also built a nest! I'm curious to know if anyone else has experienced similar issues? I've read some car makers have switched to a soy based wire coating product and this may be an explanation for the rodent feasting on the wiring and further explains why the rodents, in my situation, made a nest next to a possible food source. I would appreciate any feedback.

Rat's nest in my engine as well as blue and green wires chewed inside of black tubing

Default Rats ate my wiring

If your car is parked outside your house, in a campground or a wilderness area it can happen. I have had it happen twice in the past 25 years. My wiring was not soy based. When rats are hungry they will eat almost anything. Luckily, the cost of repair should be covered by your comprehensive part of your insurance, since its was damage caused by an act of nature. When the rats started the nest building there was most likely some residual heat from the engine. Made it nice and cozy.

rats are nasty too....I've probably killed 10 of them outside my house after I found one inside my BBQ grill

time to get a few of these.... use peanut butter as bait.

3yr ago palm rats ate through the wiring harness on my 07 GX. Was an expensive repair that insurance covered.
I put moth ***** under the engine for the rest of my Florida vacation. My son has a friend with a sequoia that had multiple problems from rodents. I think Toyota has soy in their insulation

This is how the engine cover looks like underneath. Notice all the rodent chewings on the foam.

And here's the engine with the cover off.
