Windshield questions, repairs, replacements

I have a GX460 2014 and I have to have my windshield replaced. OEM Lexus Windshield from what Safe-lite says. Only has a rain sensor on it by the rear view mirror. I have 2 more sensors. On top right. Please see picture. or will try and upload a link. What are these for? Safe Lite says they are not factory or on OEM windshield. I was told they think they are just applied with adhesive and can remove them and replace.
Thanks for your help.

My GX has a replacement windshield from previous owner. On a road trip something flew by my window, pulled over and found my driver's side trim fell off. Installer must have tried to glue it back in.
Bought clips at and ordered the OEM trim off ebay. I want to say it was an under $50.00 fix altogether. Hardest part was removing the old clips and cutting out the glue/sealant the last guy left behind.

I would recommend owners feel fit of trim pieces before a windshield replacement. You will be able to tell afterwards if pieces are broken. It may have a general looseness in multiple places. Proactively bringing your own parts or ask installer about it beforehand.

Fixed RES+ again by unhooking power/battery
My RES+ quit again. Same generic error as before. I had read in another thread that his dealership unhooked power for 10 minutes and then res + worked again. When my serviceman said he's done everything the factory has told him to do and all the updates to the module have been updated. I said let's take the power off the RES+ and he said okay.... and acted like that wouldn't fix the problem. 10 minutes later after hooking battery back up RES+ has been working. Tech manager was surprised. I did read you need to login every week to keep the module from going to sleep?? Soooo at least it's working again even though I could have been reimbursed for the original option charges but chose to keep this working. I think under the circumstances and ALLLLLLL THE TIME I SPENT RESEARCHING I STILL should have been compensated. Tech manager never would have pulled the power if I hadn't have found another owner that did it and fixed the problem.
LEXUS IS WAY BEHIND THE CURVE IN TECHNOLOGY compared to most all other cars. Even the KIA has standard 360 cameras as standard equipment.

Add me to the list of latest victim of the deadly flying rocks.
It was a pretty small rock, about the size of the pencil eraser...about 1/2 inch long crack...
I'm busting out the trusty RainX windshield repair it tonight.

Hope it holds for you!!! So far happy with my replacement.... I haven't had a chance to really test in any rain to see if rain sensor is alright. We really haven't had any measurable rain here in the Seattle area since early June IIRC..... tiny trace amount fell in August.

Yeah... I probably should just do the obvious and simulate it. Thanks! :-)

The windshield kit did a great job filling the crack. I could barely see it and you really have to look for it. Still a faint line near the crater but over it's really hard to tell. I tried to take an after picture but couldn't get a good one. I'm getting another kit to keep around.

bbqsoup: Sounds like a handy kit to keep on hand in an emergency. Out of curiosity.. why didn't you take in for a repair? My insurance covers these kinds of repairs for free even when I had high deductibles on comp.

Acrad35751, I didn't know insurance covers these without deductible, I have AAA. I was concern about driving with the crack for a long period of time and make it worst so just want to seal it up. I'll check with my insurance in case it happens again in the future. Thanks for the info

Heading out tomorrow to our local glass provider for replacement. Thank you Acrad for your numerous detailed posts on this subject and all who followed up. I have many things to confirm with my glass contractor.
