I hear from people that changing the rear wiper insert is more tricky than it looks; I've tried looking up the instruction manual for help but there was nothing there. Does the whole wiper need to be removed first? If so, how do you do it? I've never replaced these "hidden" wipers before so please bear with me. Thank you.
I experimented with the rear wiper today. Start the GX and turn on the rear wiper and when the rear wiper is at the bottom of the wipe cycle turn off the car. The rear wiper will stop, pointing down toward the bumper. The wiper is hinged so you can tilt the wiper up and remove the wiper blade. I hope this helps.

Ancient thread resurrection but did this an hour ago. Easy to swap. I think rear blade on mine was 6.5 year old stock. I didn't feel the need to use any protective tape.
I don't use the rear wiper for rain but I can see how it would be useful for you guys with ice, snow or mud. Might need to change mine just in case. Thanks Acrad!
