Default engine warm up?

i always warm my engine up until the rpm drops below 1k. i gotta say this engine takes a lot longer to do that than my other V8 truck.
it's about low 40's nowadays in the morning and at start up the rpm starts at around 1.1 or 1.2k. it takes good 5+ min to drop down to 1k then another 3-5min to drop below 1k. after a few times, i am thinking that is way too long and i can see why some people don't bother to warm up. my other truck has a 4.7L V8 that starts at around 1.2k and drops to 750 or so in about 2 min. i thought 3-5min would be sufficient enough time for oil pressure to build up and piston rings to warm up.

then i found this
https://www.popularmechanics.com/car...-harms-engine/

and then this
https://www.tundratalk.net/forums/at...r-fe_part2.pdf

according to the above toyota document (p 67), the air fuel ratio sensor takes all but 10 sec and the oxygen sensor takes 30 sec to warm up.

looks like i will be warming up for just 1 min going forward.

i am new to this 1URFE engine. i am curious, how long do you warm up your engine?

About 30 sec. I would say I take it easy for ~5-10 minutes by keeping the RPM low, but who am I kidding - my trucks spends most of its time down low in the RPM band!

My routine. Open the garage door and get into the GX. Start the engine, buckle the seat belt, put the tranny in reverse and back out of the garage. Stop when the front of the truck is past the door. Open mirrors (I fold them before entering garage to make room to walk between other parked car). Continue backing up driveway to street and once on the street, put the tranny in Drive and drive through the neighborhood around 30 mph until I reach a main artery with a 35 -45 mph speed limit. Most of my designations are within a 15 minute drive, e.g., golf course, grocery store, barber shop, doctor office, Lexus dealer, etc. In other words, warm up is less than a minute before I am out on the street.

The oil is so thin it really doesn't need to be warm to circulate. I usually give it about 10-15 seconds before I throw it in reverse and head up the hill out of my street.
