While driving and passing a freeway entrance I saw a vehicle that looked very much like my 2015 GX460. As you know when you see another GX, you always take notice. This vehicle looked showroom stock, factory wheels, street tires and no mods whatsoever BUT

As the vehicle turned away from me to enter the freeway, I had very clear vision of the rear. This is the when the question arose: The rear door had a badge that clearly read GX450. It caught my attention because it was on the driver's side of the rear door, not the passenger's side like 460s. Since my traffic was moving and he was moving down the freeway entrance ramp I couldn't grab a picture.

I can't find anything on a GX450. Does anyone know if this is a factory thing or if someone started playing then traded the vehicle? Thoughts?

 

Sounds like one of two things, since there's no GX450:

- Someone potentially did an engine swap, for one reason or another, and there's a 4.5 L engine in there (presumably diesel or LS)
- Someone lost a badge and wanted to put one back on and got it wrong (or intended to make it wrong)

Kinda interesting though.

 

Maybe someone used the "450" from the GS 450h hybrid model to be different. LOL
