Default Ko2 or Ridge Grappler or Falken Wildpeaks

I have stock base 2017 GX and need new tires. I live in Seattle so lots of wet roads and I ski so some snow as well. Any advice is helpful. Looking to 265/65/18 size. Let me know what people recommend. Thanks everyone.

I like my Wildpeak AT3W’s a lot. Same size. Quiet considering, good in the snow, rocks, and mud Comfortable. Expect to loose a little mileage over an all terrain tire. Walmart had them for a great price too when I ordered mine.

I have KO2s on my Tacoma and they are great. Sexy looking tread, get lots of compliments, and they do pretty darn well in the snow.

I plan to get them for the GX soon but I’m not too thrilled I can only get them in E rating for an 18” rim. I have C on the Taco

I like the Wildpeak too. They are quieter than I thought. Good bites on loose dirt and dirt roads.
Ridge Grappler has good reviews too but I don’t think they are quieter than Wildpeak with their thread designs. I was also considering them last time I looked at tires but the Falken’s sale price was too good to pass up.

I have the falkens in that size on my 4runner. They’re great tires - quiet, great wet traction, and I’ve found them to be much better in the cold than KO2s.

I am running the Toyo Open Country AT3s and am very happy. They have become real popular. I have tested them in the snow, Ice, and heavy rain and so far they have been great.

I live in the Seattle area (Renton) and have both tires. Nitto RG on my Tacoma and Wildpeaks on my GX460. Both perform well in the rain and snow get here and going to Snoqualmie. The Nitto RG will ride a bit more rough than the Falkens.
I vote for the Nitto RG because I think they do better in the snow than the Falkens and look better to me.

Was a BFG All-Terrain man for 30+ years ... got tired of balancing issues and going out-of-round after 50% wear ... so have switched to NITTO and will never look back. TOYO / NITTO ... both use same tire carcass ... fantastic performance, and are very quiet for the tread pattern.

Thanks everyone. So many pros and cons to each. Every day I seem to change my mind on this.

With Sizes 265/65/8 I’ve heard definite rubbing with the Ridge Grapplers, less with the KO2.. How about the Falken rubbing? Is cutting the only way? or what’s the zip tie method?

i too have gone the toyo open country at3 route. this tire is best compared with the falken wp and the bfg k02s because they have very similar characteristics. the nitto rg are not 3pmsf rated so i dont consider this in the same category. i picked the toyo oc at3 cause they are still made in usa unlike falken wp which are a mix of usa and thailand.

I'm running 265/70/17 Wildpeak AT3 on Fifteen52 wheels w/ 0 offset. Great performance on and offroad as well as in the snow. I do still have rubbing issues with the 0 offset wheels.
Road Noise for me has been an issue. My only mods are the tires and a victory4x4 rack. On the highway it is difficult to talk to passengers in the 2nd row or listen to music. For a luxury vehicle, they could have done much better insulating the interior from road noise.

Am considering Toyo Open Country when its time for replacement.

Any regrets? My fear is I may regret getting big All terrain tires because of rubbing and road noise. A good All-Season tire will cover 95% of what most people drive but don’t nearly look as cool.

I went with BFG K02 and they are awesome in the snow / slush. Slight rub at some angles when slowing and turning. Am surprised how quiet they are. My wife has a GX with factory rubber on it and I can’t tell the difference noise-wise. Got these at Sam’s Club.
