Why does this green light sometimes show up on my dash? Is there a problem with my lights? Thanks!

 

You didn't mention the model year. On 2019 GX 460 that is "headlight indicator." Owner's manual PDF, page 84 and 206.

 

This lights indicate either your marking or headlights are on. If you have your light switch in Auto position, and your light sensitive set to high, when you driving pass the underpass or area with low lighting, the headlights will turned on. However, you may not see the dash and center screen dim as it is controlled by separate light sensor to reduce brightness.

 

So, judging from the two responses I've gotten so far, that little green light is simply to let me know my lights are on, not that there's a problem, right? Ok, sounds good...thanks for the replies!
Btw, my truck is a 2012 base model...

 

General rules: green=indication lights, yellow=caution lights, red=warning lights

 

You only asked about the GREEN light which is answered but what about the YELLOW light? That's a warning for your TPMS I guess. Fill the tire(s) up.

 

Yeah, I know about the tpms light...all 4 working tires are about the same - haven't dropped the spare to check/fill it yet. It's a PITA...LOL!

 

I guess I just don't get why Lexus needs to inform me that my lights are on - specially while driving at night. That's why I thought it might be trying to tell me a brake light was out, or something...

Seriously? The car manufacturers are required to have a dash light telling us drivers that our lights are on, even at night? Wow, I had no idea...thanks for clearing that up for me!

 

It’s actually quite easy to drop the spare. Pop the plastic cap, insert the tool and turn. Many, including myself, fill to about 45 - 50 psi to extend the length of time it will take for the air to leak out to below 25 or wherever the threshold is.

 

All the cars I’ve driven in the last 15-20years all have light to tell you this? What car you drove before the GX? I’m surprised you’d never seen one before.

 

I wonder when law went into effect? My '96 Explorer, '02 Maxima and '07 G35x did not have any indications of headlights being on.

 

Neither my '02 Mazda Tribute, nor my '07 BMW X3 had indicator lights to tell me I had my headlight on. To me, the really odd thing is that the indicator doesn't come on in the daytime, when you can't tell if you headlights are on, but it does come on at night, when I can easily see that my headlights are on. Weird...

 

are you sure that your headlights switch is not on AUTO position? Regardless day or night, if you manually turned on the headlights switch to either marking or headlights positions, that indicator will be shown.
