I test drove a two door Defender before buying my GX. It was a base model with the 4 cylinder engine and had an MSRP of $60k but the dealership had a $20k markup on top of that. It was the only Defender they had in stock and it was gone two days later. They had some 110s with the v8 engine coming but they start at $110k and there was a $30k markup on them. No thanks. We own a 2021 Range Rover Sport HSE with the 355hp inline 6 cylinder engine, it is my wife’s car. We bought it new in Jan of 2021 and we paid basically MSRP for it which is what I paid for my 2022 GX.

I like the Defender but I’m not too keen on owning two Land Rovers at the same time even though our RRS has been really good so far. I think the RRS is a great vehicle but I love my GX and I am certain it will be much more reliable in the long term.

 

Nice summary - the Land Rovers are cool looking but I’d never own one that was out of warranty. The GX may not be as sexy, they are reliable and safe too. That whole ‘mild hybrid’ thing is a joke and only more to break on the LR. Enjoy the 22 GX.

Defender was on my radar when looking for a new SUV. Cool looking for sure but there is something about the GX that fits my intended use.
