Yes, I drove through water this summer. Should I assume then that remote start issue is tied to the airbag sensor? Versus their update? That’s my question. And I don’t feel it’s an inappropriate one. What I don’t feel is justified is for any/every issue to come from now until the end of time to be tied to water. Feels like an easy scapegoat. But maybe that’s a fact of life now?
A modern automobile simply can not survive water intrusion. Even if everything works today the damage has been done and electrical gremlins can arise at any time in the future. For all practical purposes it is impossible to fix.

There is a video of Jeremy Clarkson trying to kill an old Toyota truck by leaving it in the ocean overnight - they winched it out and the damn thing started and ran. The GX won't do that.

I'm sorry to say that most electrical gremlins may be tied to the water.

Not an easy scapegoat, but because of the water issues, the diagnosis can be very difficult. I'd start with looking at anything electrical that got wet and check the connections for corrosion. It seems like you've been having electrical issues recently (amplifier).

But let's start at the beginning:

How did you end up with water in the car? How much water? When?
How did you dry it out?
What symptoms have you had since then?
What services have you had since then? Why?

The more specificity the better. Year and trim level would also help us try to diagnose.

Got stuck in deep water in august, got winched out after a couple minutes. Water a few inches deep in the front floor board, less in back. Kept engine running, no water in air filter. air bag light came on, amp never worked again, ran like a champ.

i changed fluids, pulled seats, plastic trim and carpet, Rinsed floor and carpet, ran dehumidifier in closed truck. Put it back together and everything ran like a champ. Air bag light stayed on.

signed up for remote start and safety connect Lexus encore. Worked like a champ.

went in for 30k mile service and water pump (it was leaking) and new amp. They asked if they could also do location service update I said yes. Nobody mentioned the air bag light either way, but when I got it back it was off. Truck continued to run great.

then I realized the remote star no longer worked and the red and green sos lights shifted off and on a lot more. I called tech service, sos etc. they couldn’t figure it out and told me to bring it in.

i brought it in And told them it started after the update and they agreed to look into that. The next call I get was that they couldn’t figure it out, but they found that code and some dried dirt behind a kick panel so they wanted to start looking into it to the tune of 3 hrs labor. I said sure fine and approved. I didn’t realize it at the time but my service advisor thought the water happened “after” update so she may have been thinking that caused issue. But I corrected that assumption and hoped they’d refocus on the update.

the next call was that they see dried dirt on the airbag module so it’s “visible signs of failure” but they weren’t able to confirm so I may have to replace other parts as well (which makes it sound like a guess, imho).

so in my mind, I didn’t/don’t know if I have an airbag issue, no airbag light, but just wanted the remote start to work. Worst case scenario, I cancel the service, save the $16 a month and go back to having a truck that runs perfectly. Maybe the airbag light will come on in a month and I’ll have an idea of what it needs! My preference however would be someone acknowledge that the update may be the issue, or explain to me in a scientifically valid way how it really hasn’t been working all along and the update merely exposed it.

My two cents' worth (currently on sale for a penny).
The amp and airbag light failures are related. By replacing the amp, the light went off but somehow dorked the Lexus enform systems.

You may well have an airbag issue, so you'll want to get that sorted soon'ish.

Me? If I had time and didn't need the car on a daily basis, then I'd pull the seats, trim and carpet again and check every bit of wiring and figure out where the water migrated as mud clearly got to the airbag system (unless you think that the dealer is lying about that).

The problem with water is that it will corrode connections over time. Had this been reported to your insurance company, then I suspect that they would have totaled your car. You need to figure out what is going on to make sure that it is safe to drive.

Thanks for the advice and Comisseration guys. I followed your advice and got the shop Forman on the phone. He was great. Very thorough in explaining their process for arriving at their recommendation and eliminating other possible sources for the issue. He clarified a couple things that the service advisor emails left unclear. Anyway, They replaced the airbag ECU and that has fixed my issue with the remote start. Fingers crossed that’s the last of it!

Default Red SOS light staying on

All of a sudden today my safety connect (SOS) light is staying red. It was green when I got out and when I got back in and started the GX it was a steady red. Mine is a 2013 and out of warranty so I hope this is not a majorly expensive thing to fix. Any help or advice would be most appreciated.

I'm just going to speculate and say likely a dead battery that is attached to that unit. I think it is called the Mayday battery.

This is a system that can be queried for faults with Techstream or OBD Link but be advised that entire Enform system is EOL'd end of October 2022.

On the RX and the GX, the SOS light turns green when I start the vehicle, and then goes ( and stays ) Red.

Never paid much attention to that waste of good space!

Mine always stayed green until yesterday. Not gonna spend a fortune getting it fixed when it is going away soon anyway.

Question SOS Red Light always ON and Codes B15C1 and B15CB pop up

Okay, so ever since I bought the 2018 GX ( June of 2021 ) the Safety Connect ( SOS ) light turns from green ( on start up ) to red ( solid, not blinking ) and stays so!

Never really cared much about it, but yesterday had to take the GX in for some steering vibration issue, and pointed out the constant red light next to SOS to the advisor.

Well, later in the day I got a call that the module needed to be replaced ( and since the vehicle is still under original warranty ) I agreed.

Fast forward to today, and got notified that even after replacing the module and antenna, the codes ( B15C1 and B15CB ) did not clear out. So, now they need to start taking the wiring apart to figure out what's going on...

During this conversation with the service advisor, I was also informed that if the wiring has been *damaged* due to external ( read : not manufacturing defect ) reasons ( body work, water immersion etc etc ) it would not be covered under warranty!

Well, I'm only had the vehicle since June and barely driven it, and AFAIK no body work has been done.

So, my question is... if it turns out that this would be a OOW ( Out Of Warranty ) expense, should I even bother with getting it fixed ? .. I've already just spent $1200 on a new set of tires to fix the steering vibration issue, plus alignment... ::: sigh :::

Please advise!!

Pasted below is an excerpt from the tech's notes :

Is this GX certified? Sounds like something they should have tested during the cert process...

Not certified, bought it from Echopark but it’s still
under factory warranty.

That system sunsets 10.31.2022 so may not be worth putting any money into it
