hi all, just wanted to give an update on this thread. i have a 2016 GX and i ordered these parts, and they were plug and play. they did NOT need new wiring sockets as I thought (and had ordered).

PN: 81560-WY030 / 2017-2021 Left with Sport Package - all red
PN: 81550-WY040 / 2017-2021 Right with Sport Package - all red

they were surpisingly easy to install too.

list price on them is like $586 per light (purchased in May '21), though i did get a big discount from my service advisor so got them for $358 per light. I really love how they look:

The clear, Altezza tail light look was "cool" for about 6 months in the late 1990's. I have no idea why Lexus thought it was a good idea to reintroduce them to a late model GX. They look so "ricer", I unfortunately have them on my 2017.

Red looks so much cleaner.

100%. I didn’t even like the clear lens thing in the 90s either.

Thanks for the part numbers. I'm almost ashamed to say I ordered these... seems like a lot of coin for a "look", something I have never worried about much. But I do like the red much better.

Any idea what's different between the two harnesses to know if they're necessary to order? I have a 2015 and assumed I would need the harnesses as well. Any chance of a side-by-side comparison or pics of the harness that is in your 2016?

My understanding is that a harness is only needed for 2017+ newer vehicles.

Everything I've seen says that this harness for 2017+ was already installed on 2017+ (so they didn't need to purchase it), and that for the pre-2017 vehicles, you needed the 2017+ harness in order to run the newer lights.

My apologies. I guess I remembered it backwards.

Found a passenger side light for sale on FB Marketplace for a great price so I picked it up. Can confirm that I, too, didn't need a new harness. Plugged right into my 2015. Now I just need track down a driver's side lamp.
