@Acrad35751

i am preparing to install an aftermarket AT cooler. Do you know what size the OEM hoses are? 3/8 perhaps?

I don’t offhand. I will try to get you a measurement tomorrow. GX is currently out in the pouring rain at my cabin.

No problem, I went ahead and ordered 3/8th ID. Looks like all the 4Runners and Toyota’s use it. Thanks for the write up. I will probably msg you for help with the install soon!

@Acrad35751 From your experience with this install do you think the LPD4590 model will fit in the OEM location? It is 11" by 11" by 1.5" thick. https://www.trucool.com/products/tru-cool-lpd thank you.

Can you tell me which number on the Lexus diagram you have posted is the ATF outlet on the Radiator and the inlet of the transmission?

On driver side of the rear radiator the upper line on the radiator is the inlet and the lower one is the outlet.

Thanks Arcad. With my aftermarket cooler, I will be filling the ATF cooler and correct length of hose full of WS before connecting it. What do you think about that method or do you have a better way?

That should work. I was on the cusp of a final AT drain and fill so just leveled it that way.

What AT cooler did you go with?

Great thanks! I went with a fan cooled Setrab FP119M22I. Fits pretty good where the horns are located. I extended the horn’s wire with female and male spade connectors that fit perfectly in the OEM wire harness and horn.

Nice. Please post some install pics if you get a chance.

How did you wire up the fan?

Will do.

My plan is to hook my cooler inlet to the outlet of the Radiator and then the cooler outlet to the transmission. Is that how the OEM is hooked up?

Correct. That is how OEM air cooler is plumbed.

Hopefully this is the last question but, after installing the ATF cooler, did you open the overfil bolt on the transmission to make sure the system was overfilled?

I added and then did a 4th AT drain and fill.

Have you done an AT drain and fill on yours? If not, you need to make sure engine is running and up to temp before opening the check valve on AT pan.
