The deep, black, dark hole beneath the sliding coin tray is too big for any one item in particular, and when I add small items they end up in a messy jumble. So, what to do? After messing with various divider schemes I happened to pull the black owners manual folio out of the glovebox and dropped it into the center console diagonally. This created a perfect space for a pair of binoculars on one side of it and space for a microfiber towel, Leatherman multipurpose tool, and notepad on the other side. No doubt I will add a couple of other things as well.
The disadvantage is that when I need to use the folio (not so very often after initial purchase, and I have the digital manuals on my iPhone anyway), then the other items are no longer separated and organized. However, keeping a few larger items in there seems most practical anyway. It is easy to sort everything when putting the folio back in.
Now, I have a nearly empty glovebox. That's one of those good kind of problems in my mind.
Every once in a while, I put on some good gloves and did a deep dive into that abyss. A few weeks ago, I went in and came out with almost $3 in coins, a missing nail clipper, a few hair ties, 2 packs of gums, 5-6 granular bars, a small (Costco) water bottle, my missing OBDII dongle, a couple micro USB and Lightning cables, my old sunglasses and a year worth of receipts. There were a couple of chocolates that got melted in there too that I haven't had time to extracted yet...
It was a pretty amazing site when you put all of the stuffs you took out on the passenger seat. That thing can hold ALOT!!!

Good one! Gives me an idea: A thread of candid center console contents (coin tray removed). Related (maybe): I keep a rinsed soft drink cup in my driver door as a litter basket and it has relieved the cabin of an amazing amount of clutter. Of course, the truck is new to me, so I am definitely going to keep it nice for a little while.

I've got one of these trash cans hanging off the rear headrest of the front passenger seat.
Good find on the trash can.
@RoadDawg, using the door cup holder for trash with a small cup is a good idea too. I use the van's door cup holder for trash as well. I'm interested in what people store in the console too LOL...maybe TMI haha.
