I was originally going to go with the Ironman bumper but for me when I saw the MetalTech and a couple of the little things it had over the Ironman I was sold. Months later and I couldn’t be happier. Going to get their GX470 bumper too for my wife’s 470 since she loves it as well. Originally Posted by PocketRock

Just not sure if it'll work with my headlight washers. Their 2014+version does,, but their 2010-2013 does not, without making additional modifications to their bumper. And my 460 is a 2013. So yeah idk what ima do yet. Just curious what you went with
Hit me up if you have any questions on the 3rd row power stuff. I had all my parts bought linked in my second post in my build thread on ih8mud. THEOZMAN on that forum sells the harnesses to tap in to the 3rd row power and they are exceptionally high quality.

May I ask what benefits you personally admired for the metal tech over the ironman? I wonder how well the metaltech would take a deer hit , the lack of a bar covering the grill is a little concerned to me. But then again I live in northern MN, so we have tons of deer... also, have you added any additional plugins in the front of your vehicle? I would definately add the 3rd row, but am prioritizing the front of the vehicle, my fuzz buster keeps the one plugin full time occupied . Seen a post on the glove box addition, may go that routeOriginally Posted by MrTorgue

The MetalTech was plug n play without cutting. It also had the front parking sensor holes already cut out plus there’s the fact that it only added 95lbs up front. I’m not so worried about a deer, it’s the elk or moose I’m worried about. The area we’ll be moving to (Bonners Ferry ID) will be full of those and frankly either bumper won’t help much. Haha. You can easily run wire from the back to the front to power your accessories in the front. I’m going to start running wire for a few more USB ports in the 2nd and 1st rows.

I have seen Lexus vehicles that had two USB ports with the aux audio input, like the NX my wife had for a while... Does anyone know whether the 2-USB + aux module is a reasonable replacement for the 1-USB + aux in my GX? It would be great if I could just replace that power module and double the USB ports...

Hello all. I just got this vehicle couple months ago. So im still learning things. One main thing is there's only one cig lighter plugin, which is crazy to me... but none the less, I brought my laptop to work the other day, and it's so old it has to always be plugged in or it will die within seconds. I have an extention cord running from the rear 100v 120w outlet to the front of the vehicle. But after 2 seconds of being under load, it shuts off current and won't work. . . I also tried my cig lighter plugging with my 500w invertor. It also can't handle the load. But I've used that same invertor in my other vehicles with zero problems ( besides the fan running on max ) ... so what's the deal here? The fuses the vehicle uses are 15a. I swapped the outlet 15 for a 20 and had the same issue. My laptops power brick input is 100-240v 50-60hz 2.0a, and output is 19v 6.32a ... why is this cig lighter under performing when compared to my jettas or my 4runners ? I don't know what to do to fix this
From some light reading I don't expect much from the built in 100w outlet. i am more confused about the cigarette lighter with my invertor that I have supplied.. help?

Quick question. Do you have powered 3rd row seats? If so you need to tap in to that power and install your own 12V accessory socket (aka sig lighter port). It really isn't that difficult and provides a very stable and constant power source that will be more than enough for your notebook. If you do have 3rd row power seats I'll reply back with more info for you, otherwise you'll probably want to run power straight from the battery through the firewall to a new 12V power port that way. Maybe someone else can chime in regarding the factory 12V power sockets, but I get the feeling they aren't really feasible for this sort of application.

get a jackery 300. plug the laptop in to the jackery. the jackery in to the cigarette adapter to keep it topped off. you could probably get 15 hours on the jackery alone though and its portable

That's what I do for my fridge. I built a power station in the driver side storage compartment cover and I use the 3rd row seats power taps to power it. I lug my Jackery in here and my fridge in the Jackery.Originally Posted by leftyguns

this is exactly what I do too, except mine is switched to an auxbeam switch panel. I didn't want power at all times back there so I put it on the switch. I put my power in the same spot as you and plug the jackery in to the power, fridge in to the jackery. I have worked remote too and the jackery worked to keep my laptop chargedOriginally Posted by THEOZMAN

This is another way to fix your laptop power problem without doing anything to your vehicle. Decide which solution is easier for you. Your problem is mainly the battery in your old laptop. It won't hold a charge. If it could hold a charge you could use your existing car outlet to power & charge your laptop battery since the battery can be a power buffer to operate your laptop. Then, your laptop will not die in a few minutes. Some of those old laptop require a lot of power compared to newer ones which are much more efficient.
