I thought there was a video posted around here somewhere...I think tecman posted it. It was soft close retrofit on the rear door of a Russian 460.

I think a rear closer is needed. Get this, a friend was putting something in the back, and tried to shut the door. It didn't shut all the way, so instead of trying to open it and reclose it, she just pushes real hard on the metal. Now i have a dent. Maybe I'll push it back out in the summer.

Good find @Acrad35751 this is a fine mod IMO...I am starting to regret purchasing GX. Can already see myself dumping more money into this thing that I ever anticipated..
Did you tell her, that aint no barn door???...Think should be easy fix though, I've got couple dings on my GX, came with car when I bought it and was researching sprayless dent removal services in the area and was able to find couple reputable shops that do magic looking at their yelp reviews/pictures...

I'm pretty sure they've removed it from the 4Runner as well, unless its trim dependent. I had a 2017 or 2018 as a rental and was surprised that the rear hatch wasn't soft close like the previous generation.

Interesting... these Slamstops units apparently come from South Korea and he compares to the cheaper Chinese versions from Aliexpress/Alibaba and problems/quality with those units.

Soft close doors
I have seen couple of YouTube videos for people who successful added soft close doors on the GX. Anyone here did the mod here as well?
I miss this feature in my previous X5 and thinking to do the mod but I don't know if it is worth the trouble or not since it is not OEM feature to begin with.
