17 model with Driver assist package I think this is the ECU for that (white arrow)

I've been curious if I picked up a Driver side mirror from Candian model (with camera ) if I can plug and play into this system that already has front and passenger camera.

The screen does have a 3 window option so I think the ability is there and has BSM so assume the Driver side mirror has appropriate wiring to handle the camera

I think the the design of that ECU changed with '14+. The connectors should be on the ECU for the left camera. I'll see if it shows in my FSM wiring diagrams for '14+

The one I purchased looks like this... just some pictures I found of one.

Unfortunately, the wiring harnesses does not exit on driver side door panel for US specified GX. Remember way back when I tried to retrofit cameras with mirrors I have sourced from Asia, I ended up completely building entire wiring and after market surround view module to complete the project. Details is in Sticky threads organized by Acard.

This is unfortunate indeed! I too was hoping I could simply install a driver's side camera and plug into the existing wiring harness. Mine is a 2016 Luxury model that already includes the front and passenger side camera. Are you positive mine doesn't include the driver's side harness?

I'm not sure where this mod fits in the schedule with my Harrop taking priority but I will get to it.

I am curious if this will require both cameras to be plugged in...assuming I can even track down harnesses in the dash. It is in the far right side of dash. I got it for relatively cheap so if someone is trying to refurb a GX with this option in a decade and can't find it.. I'll have one to sell them :-)

Clearance warning ECU is that red one you may have seen in far right area of dash if you have been in there for any length of time. IIRC..it says sonar on it and is used for the Intuitive Park Assist. This ECU would be situated outward from that one.

New these go for about $650

I got this one for $100... I have the front camera and 2 OEM side cameras as well.

It looks like on the 2016 I have there is only one parking assist computer but I have the 859A-160031 driving support assist computer and I will need to change to the 859A1-60040 one for the wide view cameras.
Hopefully I can find one at a salvage yard but have not found one yet.

You won’t likely find a 040 in the US as that was never installed here but you can order from any
Lexus dealer.

It will give you MTS

If you look the post by JayPixelGX above on 04-09-21 at 10:09 AM in the second picture which is below the one with the white arrow.
When I zoom in on the one the left of the one one the arrow is pointed to I see it.
I can look it up on Lexus parts sites and it is a bit over $200.

Yeah...that is the ECU that 14-19 owners swap out for MTS

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...elect-mts.html

10-13 owners use a different ECU

In FSM Parking Assist ECU is showing up in that same spot on '14+ models as well in far right side of dash below the right dash vent.

So will my 859A-160031 driving support assist computer work with the cameras?
Thanks

That is a rev that ‘14+ w/Driver Support Package uses for front and right side cameras but I think you would need 040 for driver’s camera.... it’s been a while since I was working on this mod so some details I will need to revisit. I have been collecting parts. There are two parking related ECUs though... the one used for Intuitive Parking Assist and this other one for cameras named Parking Assist. Still have no idea if I will get this to work so just speculation at this point.

Old unit on top with crawl control only from the factory. (I still have this if anyone want to just add crawl and not MTS) Heard these parts are becoming harder to come by these days,

Another picture when I had the glovebox out unfortunately the glovebox is covering most of the area under the Vent but you can make out some of the connections

If I take the glove box apart again (may do this to reposition GPS from vline install) I will upload more pictures and attempt to track down possible open slot for Drivers side camera hook up (if available)
