Had the battery tested, and the parts store said it was good. Starter smells really burnt though, on the passenger side of the vehicle.

Anyone have a Factory Service Manual, or any idea how to remove and replace the starter?

Finding a lot of info on the LS460 but not so much the GX460.
Assuming it is in the same location, do you need to remove the exhaust manifold to get the starter out?

Starter might be sticking. I’ve had luck removing the negative battery cable to get it to stop trying to crank if it does it again.

 

On my GS It was my starter solenoid. Didn’t have to replace the whole starter just rebuilt the solenoid

I was able to cycle the key and get it to stop trying to crank, but still just really weird. Had not acted up in the previous 10k miles of ownership, nor has it done it since the initial incident

 

Doesn't look like a fun job... 3UR-FE placement same as 1UR-FE in 460
