Default armorial smartshield

'17 Gx arrived and went to pick it up and the sealer told us how good this Armorall smartshield would be, especially given that the GX is black. it is also supposed to prevent stains on the inside, but more concerned with the outside so we ordered it and they are supposed to do it tomorrow. I thought this was a Lexus thing, but now researching it, it looks like a dealership thing. Having second thoughts. Does anyone have experience with this?

No idea... this was one hit I found on someone critical of it.

I was offered Opticoat from the dealer and Cquartz when I got the clear bra put on. I opted out of it as I can apply it myself after I detail next month. You can do it yourself but it will take time and you need to properly prep your paint first and remove the contaminants and imperfections (clay bar and polish to take care of light scratches). If you take care of the vehicle you may not need it at all. I am on the fence on doing it and yes... this is a dealer thing and I am sure they are charging a premium for it when you can get it done somewhere else for less money. The two I was offered were near the $1k mark IIRC. Not sure what they want to charge you for your car but there is an instructional video
for the smartshield.

Yup. Especially if you could DIY for a TON less money. Or just take care of your car. The thing that this is preventing on the outside "supposedly" protects it from automatic car washes with the brushes. I highly doubt that is the case. Take care of the vehicle and this is not needed. Having said that I will still drop the coin on it this year and see what happens after prepping the surface properly. I'll post video/pics when I get to it.
