I cannot find this information anywhere. I have a factory installed tow package on my 2017 GX 460. Do I need an aftermarket trailer brake controller? Will any dash light provide info to me on the electric hook up. The installation manual says nothing on this stuff.

Thanks

I think the manual says something about 1000 lbs max towing without trailer brakes. I don't think it comes with it based on the info in the manual. It suggests you need to add it.

Not sure about manual but in WA state it is legal for 3K lbs or less without trailer brakes IIRC.

Here is a good list from a legal standpoint anyway

Don't forget there are different types of trailer brakes. Basically, surge and electric.

I think that is true for most states. Maybe Federal. But the manual states 1000 lbs max without trailer brakes. So I think the lessor would be controlling.
