Default New here - two part question

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for some input from those GX owners that are towing heavy loads close to the max towing capacity. My wife and I are considering buying a new 2017 but need some pointers. My current boat set up is a tandem axel trailer weighing just under 5000k fully loaded. It is equipped with 4 wheel disk surge brakes. No brake controller needed.

Part 1 - Will I need a weight distribution hitch for pulling my boat and if so which one? I currently tow with a Toyota Tacoma and do not use one.

Part 2 - Our budget is roughly 56k which I can get a loaded Premium with the sports package but I'm wondering if We should wait and jump on a used Luxury with the adjustable suspension mode? Will that option be better for towing. My thought process here is maybe putting the suspension in "sport mode" will stifen up the suspension and will be be better towing? This is the only option the Luxury edition offers that has my attention.

Thanks in advance!

Not that I tow heavy loads (or anything at this point) and do not have the Lux w/ air these two threads found by doing a search seems of the opinion the air is a nice to have when towing heavy loads -

Thank you - Yes Ive been sifting through a bunch of threads and the consensus is that the Luxury is better for towing heavy loads.

If anyone is towing heavy loads with the Premium. I'm interested in hearing about your experiences.

Just a side line comment about towing. So much of towing safely and comfortably is about trailer balance and proper tongue weight. You probably already know that, but I find many people are totally oblivious to that fact. Even trailer mfg's don't always get it. I had a trailer that towed to poorly, it was dangerous. Mfg'ed that way. A guy at work, in passing told me what was wrong. Tongue weight. Once I understood, it was obvious, hard to make right, but easily diagnosed. I have a utility trailer that tows horribly. It was mfg'ed with the axle dead center of the bed, so no tongue weight. I would have thought a trailer mfg would know this, and mfg it correctly balanced. But guess their engineers don't understand it either.
