Took off the winter tires and put on the all-seasons today. I was just about done and thought...oh yeah... I need to get my Techstream out to reprogram the TPMS sensors.
what can of programming can you do with TPMS using tech steam? Pressure setting? Can it be programmed for a 4 wheel setup vs 5?
Unfortunately, you have to program all 5 tires you cannot do 4. I have TPMS sensors in my winter set so need to associate the new codes with swapped tires.
2020+ allows you to do this without Techstream and most 460s do not have the 2nd set switch. IIRC...there were some early years in Eurasian markets that may have had the 2nd tire switch like the 470.
another skid on should be the last one. RCI Lower link skid, was worried this would be a pain, but read instructions and chucked rear wheels and wasn't to bad.
Installed clear wrap on front hood, front n rear bumpers. Ceramic coated the rest. Front window tint.
Tomorrow install Pedal Commander. wireless charger n holder
Admittedly, this is not very interesting, nor cool, but needed to be done.
Brand new car/truck means no anti-seize. Not a big deal for our neighbours south of the border, but being a rust belt car, I needed to tackle this ASAP. My new GX was a demo unit that was very clearly driven in winter, to top things off. So off we go to take apart the brakes, skid plates and clean everything. Anti-seize where it belongs to prevent future issues. I still need to wash the undercarriage more thoroughly. Fluid film will be applied this fall.
The "before" - yikes. A lovely mixture of road salt and sand.
Yep, this is a problem. My front wheels weren't too keen on coming off.
Toyota make this easy; the bolt attaching brake line to knuckle can be used here to get the rotor off. Very carefully, of course.
It doesn't take long for corrosion to set in.
I used to do this by hand. It was time to work smarter, not harder.
The "after" - much better. Repeat on all four corners.
The front calipers were torqued to the knuckle higher than factory spec. I had to used my DeWalt impact to get those loose. Rears felt as expected. Over-all this was a walk in the park. It's an enjoyable truck to work on.
I CQuartz'd the wheels with two coats while at it. A full paint correction + CQuartz will follow suit. I'll take pictures to get a before/after shot.
And finally, a question to the group: Is it normal that the valve covers are exposed like in my first photo? I saw that some trucks had the two splash shields removed by dealers due to heat concerns. Should there be a third section? I don't see how it would attach from the outside, however. In any case, I'd rather not get salt spraying all over my engine bay if there's a solution. Thanks!
@M4rk there are only 2 wheel well splash shields on both sides in the front. If either needs replaced you can do some rad rubber ones or there are others who make them as well. I chose the rad rubber ones and have zero complaints, much heavier duty than the oem units.

Thanks a lot @nuclearn8! These do feel rather flimsy, I'll look at that as another mod for this year.

Are you referencing the orange paint on the spring and shock? That started coming off due to my cleaning. Or the rust on the knuckle? That one is surprising, but the particular spots just didn't seem to have been painted from factory.
