Default USB port not working

I just purchased my new to me 2011 Gx base model and cannot seem to get the USB to work or even highlight(it remains gray) in the audio menu. The 12v charger port works right next to it and I have full bluetooth connectivity. My first thoughts is a fuse but it seems the fuse would be linked to other things that are working. There doesn't seem to be any debris in the port that I can see and the electrical connections look fine. Any thoughts? I got spoiled in the 470 forum by Mann777 who seemed to have the answer to everything. Any comments would be appreciated.

So not so tech savvy, but it is critical the USB is formatted correctly. FAT32 is required for current versions, not sure what is correct for yours. What do you want to do with the usb? You also have to have pictures formatted correctly and in the correctly named folder. Music also needs to be the correct format...etc.

2011 base GX here also. The USB port is only for audio devices and charging.

i wouldn't be using it for anything but music and charging, But my USB doesn't even charge my IPhone and when plugging it in doesn't show up on my IPhone. It doesn't work for anything nor does it respond to pressing the USB/aux button. I'm guessing a broken USB port or a fuse.

It's most likely your fuse. Happened to me once. Check the fuse box under the hood. There's actually a spare, and a fuse removal tool, for the USB fuse in there.

Ok, So I checked both fuse boxes and nothing is labeled USB/Aux. I've checked several fuses that seemed relative like INV and radio 1 and radio 2. All fuses are fine. I've tried several different USB cords and I purchased an AUX cord just to see if that works and it doesn't. The only plug that works in that area is the cigarette lighter looking aux. I guess it's possible there is an inline fuse. It's really not that important but just irritating. Almost as irritating as my passenger side 2nd row seat SQUEAK..LOL

The fuse is by the emergency brake pedal. I tested and confirmed both.

I believe I checked them but will check again tomorrow when it's light out. Thank you very much for your time.

Wow, Isn't the fuses only job is to not allow a short. Thanks.

The fuses job is to shut the circuit down to prevent damage or fire caused by the short.
