Required some modification to the truck to fit a Lexus GX460.
Snorkels are an excellent way to protect your four wheel drive's engine. The higher air intake gives you the combined benefits of cooler & cleaner air intake, safer water crossings and increased airflow for improved performance.
4WD's fitted with Ironman 4x4 Snorkels benefit from increased airflow to the engine and a raised air intake to minimse the chances of water ingress.
These snorkels are manufactured from high quality materials which are UV resistant to increase longevity, plus a built-in rain deflector to stop water getting in during heavy downpours. All built to Australian standards.
Designed to fit neatly and snugly to the contours and air box configuration of individual vehicles, with full installation instructions and template included, be sure to check that you are ordering correctly for your vehicle make, model and build date.
that's the biggest load of horse crap that's been going around forever - if water gets up to the bottom of the hood (well below the snorkel) you've probably fried your electronics The are just a 'look at me' gimmick
Nice timing as I decided to use engine cleaner and wash the dust off this morning. I don't have any engine covers except for the main silver cover and I removed that. I was noticing all of the places for water to settle in the wiring clamps/connectors, mainly the spark plugs.
Anyway, I did what I have done before. Warm up the engine, wash and I use a leaf blower for about 5 minutes and give the electronics special attention. I leave the hood open and do not crank for at least an hour.
Provide cleaner air especially when driving on a dirt road behind a half dozen Jeeps.
Cooler air.
Marginal gas mileage (enough to buy a Happy Meal at the end of the year??)
Some people like the look.
Snorkels don't:
Protect from deep water crossings.

I've had two on two different vehicles, my first overlander (an F350 Crewcab, lockers, 15k winch, 3 air compressors, dual batteries, etc. etc.etc.) and my current GX 460.
I am averaging over 15 MPH with my set up. You can see what I've done here: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/r2m...-expo.1104719/
And YES it does provide cleaner air going down a dirt trail when in a line of 4x4's.
No I have not nor will I ever use it for extreme water crossing.
I have no intention to make a submarine out of my GX.... undoubtedly though this one would have hydro-locked far sooner without one. I think all he lost was the audio amp under the seat. On a 460 he would have come really close on the air intake on that right fender.
I've been chatting with Ironman 4x4 America. A shipment will arrive from Australia in about 6 weeks that will also have Ironman 4x4 Snorkel, which is an excellent product that's on my 15 GX 460 Ironman 4x4 Snorkel
