What small car door hits your running board?

When I am in a hurry, I would strategically park my GX in between two small cars instead of two huge SUVs or tall trucks - these big vehicles would put a big dent on the sides of my vehicle if the let their doors swing out all the way - at least the small cars, their doors will hit my running board first if they push their doors out hard.

If you own a premium car, you can't expect for people to be nice to your vehicle as well at all times, you must take some measures to preserve your own vehicle even if it takes more walking sometimes.

Find out the individual dealers reputation. Sewell in Texas is fantastic.
well there is a sucker for every dealer.

Since it was vandalism and not collision, per my plan, 0 out of pocket. This was back in May. In June, while the car was parked, someone backed into the grill with such force, it separated the bumper from the fenders on both sides and smashed the grill. This cost a little above $1000. The grill alone was $500. You should definitely take it to a reputable body shop.
atleast someone agrees with me.

you know the dealer takes a cut out of the pie if they use a body shop. Just go straight to body shop and skip the middle man

That's perfect example, LOL! Always park in between these and your running boards (sticking out) will absorb other people cars' wild door swings (even my other car can't touch the GX sides)!

Its sickening to see this sort of thing happen. And before diving into a paint job that pretty much ruins the value in my opinion, I would look for a good detailer that could use touch up paint to fill it, it may need a good 2 part glazing putty to start, but at least doing that sort of repair maintains 99.999% of the factory paint. Repaints on panels can show up after so many years, and can just look bad.

The body shop did a fabulous job repairing the tailgate and paint match was excellent (silver lining metallic). Regarding the grill, it was replaced with a brand new one and the fenders were aligned properly with the bumper. Overall a 10 out of 10 regarding workmanship. I then sold the car in July with full disclosure and the new buyer could not even tell there was any prior damage. The body shop is Abra Auto Body.

Ammo NYC attempted to "fix" something similar on a Mercedes G55. In the end, the owner had to get the car repainted. I don't think there is any way you can touch that up. It's a 30 minute video....just watch the beginning to see how bad the scratch is and skip ahead to the end to see the end product.

Sorry OP....that truly sucks.

Sorry, late to reply---I came across this post just now. If you haven't already repaired, have you tried calling in an insurance claim? This damage would fall under Parked and Unoccupied, which doesn't increase your premiums as it's considered a "Hit and Run"

Sad to see what they did to your car. When my F150 was new it was keyed at the movie theater. Since any type of insurance claim for body repair is reported to Carfax/Autocheck, I paid the $1000.00 out of pocket and went on.
it's sad how some people get their kicks.
karma is a ***** though!

Forgot to update you guys. I ended up going through my insurance company, the insurance company had it fixed through my local lexus dealership. The car was gone for three weeks and we had an 2016 rx 350 loaner (i am more convinced now than ever that i will never own one). They honestly did a great job and i can't tell where the scratch was. My wife primarily drives the gx since she has our kid most of the time and she is not very careful when it comes to parking but i think i have managed to instill some paranoia in her now. I guess there is nothing i can do to prevent this in the future so i'll just keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't happen again.

You can only imagine the grief I get from our kids sometimes: "daddy, why do you park so far from the entrance".. and I always just say: "When you buy your own car you can park it wherever you like" .
