I just did it on a V6 RAV4. Does that count? It's a metal valve on the RAV, so I just cleaned it up and reinstalled.
The air plenum did need to come out, along with the throttle body and part of the intake hose. Took a couple hours, but I was also doing spark plugs and a coil pack.

Bumping this up, anyone tackle this yet? I'm going to order the OEM unit and get after it. Probably overdue now at 122k...
Ordered the OEM unit on eBay. Watch out though, a lot of people selling this, just make sure you get it from a trusted vendor. I found a Toyota dealership in FL that was selling them (last one) and bought it. I can't imagine getting a fake unit, but better safe that sorry.
PCV showed up. Ordered a 22mm deep socket and a Gear Wrench set of 3/8 wobble extensions. Will tackle it in the next few days and document it for everyone else here.
The problem is you can't see the bottom clip at all. The top piece just pulls off, even with the clip in place. I'm hopeful that the bottom is the same because YOU CAN'T SEE ANYTHING with the foam piece in place. The only thing that worries me is trying to put the hose back on the PCV end and having trouble getting it seated.
Any thoughts or should I just go for it and see what happens?
I had similar concerns... IIRC one of the videos I saw showed owner unscrewing the valve by the hose itself at the top. This assumes it isn't threaded in there that tight though.

The hose easily pulls off the top portion which is visible in the photo without moving or adjusting the clamp at all. I believe the bottom will be the same but I would hate to have the hose snap off, break, etc. I'll just go for it this weekend, and I'll put a touch of dielectric grease on the PCV nipple and the hose and that should help it slide on. On the GX, there are a few more things in the way that the Tundra doesn't have, a couple of plugs and a wire harness.
How hard is taking the intake plenum off? Experience tells me that it pays to take extra time and pull a few pieces off rather than risk breaking something else in the process of doing it the quick way. Besides there is the separator piece in there that could be replaced as well, valley pan inspected for coolant leaks, maybe smth else...

More work than I'm willing to do for a $10 part. I'll roll the dice. Worst possible case, the hose tears and have to fish out bits of hose and replace it.
My experience with replacing at least 6 pcv's on various vehicles is that the hose will pull off. Grab as low as you can, provide a little jiggle and twist to loosen it up if needed and then give it some love (I always push before then pulling it out/off).
It'll come off and if it snaps due to being brittle (which I've never had happen but it is possible), you needed to replace it anyway.

Yes the instructions for plenum removal (thanks Acrad!) are extensive as far as the list of operations. Not sure what I would have done. I'd probably just let it go till I had to do plenum removal. But I am lazy!
If there is a retainer clip on the hose over the PCv that needs reinstalled it can likely be accomplished with a pair of long skinny, angled forceps sliding it down the hose, look in fishing hook removal tools or medical supplies
