'23 GX dash rattle
That's so weird, I noticed this rattle one day coming from the front driver near the windshield to dash area too. Couldn't pinpoint it. It was really cold that day. A couple of days later and the rattle was gone.
- Took out the cover of the wipers motor. Inside, there is a harness for the wipers heaters that keep rattles as the car moved. He fixed this.
- The hood arm (rod) when it click to that white housing it rattles. He added cushion stickers - not applicable to Lexus.
- The ABS unit at the passenger side has a harness that was rattling against a metal sheet. He pushed the wiring away.
- There is a crash bar at the top of the dashboard that runs from side to side. There is two nuts that holds this bar from the engine side, and through the firewall. He said these usually rattle and he checked them but found they were fine.
- Unscrewed the strut mounting cap and cleaned. There was only dust and nothing to worry about.
Good luck. I know, it's very frustrating.. and keep us updated once you figure it out.
I have a technician friend (30 years experience) who owns a 2016 Tacoma. He has had a rattle in the same area. He says when he puts on the heat through the defrost that after a while the noise goes away. His passenger side / glove box area has been disassembled for quite some time but he hasn't figured out a permanent fix.
I usually run my heat through the middle of the dash (radio area) so yesterday I started using the defost only and it does seem to help the issue. It's too early to tell if it solves the problem so I will keep doing it and report back.
If it does stop the noise it may be good information for the dealer to find a solution.

Been playing around with some different climate control settings to see if there's a pattern. I've been keeping it on defrost and the noise does seem to subside once things get warm.
One day I left work and driving up the street from work the thing was driving me crazy. I had the heat on through the defrost vents. I got home and asked my wife to come outside to take a ride and help me isolate the noise. When we got in she said her feet were cold so I changed the vent settings to dash/footwell for maybe 3-4 minutes in the driveway. Then I switched back to defrost. We drove around for about 15 minutes and I don't think I heard the noise once...very strange.
Generally I've been keeping the air flow on defrost and the noise is there until things warm up. Sometimes the noise subsides and gets slightly more "muted" and not rattling most of the time but more intermittently.
Things seem to be pointing towards something in the climate control system. Does anybody have any ideas what it can be? Is there an exploded diagram available somewhere to see how that area is constructed and what may be causing the noise?

2023 GX: Service found there was a leaf that had made it way into the HVAC system in the dash. Noise was noticeable when the air is set to 'recirculate' via the dash icons.
They removed the leaf and the noise went away.

Brought back to dealer and they've had it for 2 weeks. They've been driving it often trying to reproduce the noise and haven't heard it once.
I have 20-30 videos of the noise, which they've seen, but they say they need to drive it and hear it themselves in order to figure out where to focus.

I had a clicking noise coming where the passenger side speaker grille meets the windshield. I'm under warranty but don't want to waste my time at the dealer since the clicking happens under very specific road conditions (light consistent bumps) and I know they'll throw me with the "can't replicate" BS that they tend to do. I'd also prefer to keep the tech from ripping apart my dash if I could fix it myself.
I noticed the driver side grille is solid with no movement but the passenger side has some play to it. A bit of felt tape between the windshield and speaker grille fixed the issue.

This was pretty popular on the Tundra forums when I owned my past 2023 platinum.

UPDATE
Sorry for the late update.
Back in May the dealer called out the engineer. They found a piece of metal was rubbing another piece of metal somewhere underneath the bottom of the A pillar area on the passengers side. It was coming from exactly where I heard it. They said they "sealed" it. Problems seems to be fixed. Hope it stays that way.

I have a 21 and had the dealer try three times to fix and no matter what they did the rattle came back as soon as the temp dropped. Unfortunately I have just learned to put up with it. I just turn the music up as rattles drive me crazy. They took my dash apart and packed it with insulation did not help, they took my council apart and put rubber spacers in places did not help. It is bizarre that it seems to be temperature driven.

I had a rattle that sounded like it was from the center console armrest. Took it to the dealer. Turned out to be pens I had in the glove box rattling around anytime the vehicle was not travelling in a straight line like in a curve. I removed the pens, put a sheet of silicon there. So far, so good.
I too have been frustrated by this constant rattle coming from what sounds like my center dash as soon as the weather turns cold. Just the other day with negative temps it was unbearable and constant. I tried to push down on all parts it the dash, the speaker cover, the audio head unit , everything. Then by accident I hit the from compartment slide cover that I have always had to keep in the locked open position as I have a usb charger plugged in along with an aux headphone cable. When the cover disengaged from the open locked position to close only to the point it made contact with the two cables sticking up my rattle was gone. I had tried this remedy prior but is was always locked open or locked fully closed. Being left in limbo has removed my noting rattle.
