Default Just the tip

Wife took a trip to pick up our mutt from our daughters house. About 5 min. after leaving my daughter’s house wife calls and says the low tire pressure icon is lit up. I ask her to check tire pressure and she says left rear is at 29. I told her to turn around and go back to daughter’s house and I would drive down. 1 hr 40 min drive but figured it would be faster than calling AAA. Plus don’t want some hack thrashing my vehicle.
So get down there and it’s totally flat. It was 25 psi by the time wife parked it.
Anyway, change tire with spare then removed the piece of metal the caused the flat.
It was a broken off tip of a knife blade! Of all things. Anyone have any strange items that caused a flat?

I’m in for the Archer reference alone.

This caused a flat this past spring. Jumped on my arm as I was holding wheel loosely and jerked the car into large rock edging. Sidewall popped right through, wheel spokes gouged up. I had to buy a new tire and refinish the wheel.

Good looking dog. They somehow cost you one way or another but they’re worth it.

^^ these things fall or blow out of work trucks, so typically not from people throwing things out the window ... with construction areas, especially residential housing or commercial buildings being the worst where this potentially happens.

Understood but still, secure your load and trash. These “things” could potentially damage vehicles or in rare occasion hurt/kill.
It’s a mindset with these folks, have you seen the insides of these vehicles?

No excuse ... but they are typically doing hard physical work all day so don't have the time or energy to be overly organized.

True, construction isn’t for the weak.

I had a key cause a puncture in a tire once. A regular house key. It was buried all the way to the end. Luckily, a tire store was close by and they fixed the pucture for me, right before closing time. They wouldn't charge me for the repair either, so I slipped the tech a 20.

Did they plug and patch. That seems like a wide gash to me.

I honestly don't remember. This was on a previous vehicle (Nissan Murano). They did a good job as the repair held until I sold it some years later.

... all said, it's actually amazing how modern tires deal with constant road abuse ... have only had a flat 2-3 times (in my family) in the past 30-odd years.

Agreed! I've had various punctures on multiple vehicles, however have always had enough air in them to get them repaired at a near by tire shop. I've never had to remove a wheel on the side of the road due to a puncture........looking for a piece of wood to knock on

You guys are lucky, I’ve had probably 5 in the past 6 years. And yes, TPM is an awesome feature.
