Default GX 460 Base or Luxory

I'm considering buying a 2020 to 2023 GX-460 to replace my aged 2012 Acura MDX. I want a good highway cruiser with a small amount of off-road and deep snow capability. My main concern is reliability and comfort. Are there any reliability issues with the Adaptive Air Suspension system or any other extras on the Luxury models that I should avoid. I think a Base model with heated/ventalated seats would be all I need, but I'd buy a Luxury if the price is right and there are no reliability concerns.

Also, Luxury is spelled wrong in the heading 'cause I be an engineer.

Thanks

Heated steering wheel was standard in the Luxury, and it's very nice along with the heated second row. The leather is also nicer in the Luxury, and while the rear AHC does have more components, it hasn't proven to be an issue. Even if it does become an issue, you can swap the bags out for springs w/o much cost or complication.

I think you would be happy with a Premium model. I have a 22 GX premium and it worked fine in Colorado snow last November during elk season. Nulux for seats instead of leather but I think is better as it is much easier to care for. You have heated and ventilated seats in the Premium and heated steering wheel but the ventilated seats are a joke as far as cooling compared to other Lexus vehicles I have owned in the past (ES and RX). Just my 2 cents worth.

It seems like there is a thread on the forum (probably originated and maintained by forum god, Acrad) that tracks the features and/or options of each trim level by model year. You might search for the thread. Also, although the GX does not have air suspension, to me, the Luxury rides significantly better than the base model. IMO.

The GX has rear air springs in certain models, which I think is standard on the Luxury for certain model years.

If towing often and at close to max load then Lux ( since really that is the trim for towing (has the leveling rear air))
Else Test drive a Lux vs a Prem/Prem+ and check ride characteristics, radio, and seat materials
If you can tell difference in ride or seat material and prefer Lux for either or both then Lux
Else if you can tell difference in ML radio vs Base Then Lux or Prem +
Else Prem OR Prem +

When I tried to make the car buying decision, I wanted pearl white in Ecru, either premium plus or luxury for ML sound. I ended up finding a Luxury and took it. The air springs at rear is a feature I did not seek after but it was not a turn off. I had a 2005 with them and they last 16 years without any issues when I sold the truck. The leather seats are not must haves but they are welcome.
