Default Thin paint?

Using a paint thickness gauge (admittedly not an expensive one), seeing the paint thickness on my 2017 in black ranging anywhere between 20-30 microns all the way around. Alarmed, I checked some newer GXs (2020-2022) in black at a couple dealerships. And I saw somewhat similar numbers on those - with averages between 30-50 microns.

The paint on my GX is still glossy. Looks really clean. Would never have guessed the paint is so thin.

I checked my door jamb (driver side) and numbers came up negative (?!) 11-17 microns. Sometimes I would get a reading in the low 20s.

Have any of you noticed something similar?

The gauge is def. faulty... It's only off by about 100 microns

You’re right on point! I bought a newer gauge and went around the GX again. Readings were generally around 120 microns with a low of 100. Lesson learned and crisis averted.
