Default Need to replace rear entertainment - video monitor

My rear DVD system went bust. In fact my radio would not work properly or rear camera and once diagnosed the dealer told me the video monitor in the rear went bad. Clearly some wires run through there for the other systems so by disconnecting it everything else works fine. Lexus wants https://www.lexussouthatlantaparts.com/products/Lexus/2008/GX-470/Video-Monitor-STONE/63133272/8668060060B0.html ]$5,000 for 12 year old DVD player[/url] & monitor which of course is absurd. Anyone gone with an after market replacement they are happy with or no where to find a reasonably priced replacement?
Thanks!
Frank

I too would like to replace the factory DVD and monitor with an aftermarket option. Surely someone has done this. Something simple with DVD player in the same spot as original? Actually, it might be best just to do with a DVD player and monitor already integrated into the head rest and simply replace the head rest. Easier, probably cheaper, and able to replace.

I yanked them out, cut the wires and replaced with headrests I got off of Ebay for $30. Much cleaner and nicer look. If you want video in the back, hang an Ipad and you will future-proof your car as well.

My son had the drivers side on backwards. Fixed since.

I have to agree. Using iPads is a much better solution than the built-in aftermarket that a lot of GXs got at the dealers.

Same as the nav systems these things came with, technology moves so fast, they become obsolete long before the vehicle is used up.

I have those and I’m ready to yank em out and get factory or aftermarket regular headrests again. Hanging a tablet off of the headrest mount rods is the best solution.
