GX470 Air suspension works by itself, a problem or not?
Hello everyone. I just bought a 2005 GX470. I am confused about the air suspension system. I noticed that the air pump works too often to adjust the height of my car even if I did not adjust it, e.g., just put the control button to neutral. Is this a problem or not?
For example, the height adjuster is always in neutral, but the actual height changes very often and there is no pattern (sometimes low sometimes high). Is this a problem or not? Thanks.

The height adjusts based upon weight in the truck...you get out and walk away, you may hear compressors running. But if the compressor is running for what appears to be no reason you probably have a leak in the air springs so it is running to refill them. , eventually the compressor will burn out from over use...so better check for leaks

BTW, there is only one compressor, right? That means one compressor pumps air for the two air springs, right?
Thanks again.

There are sensors attached from rear axle to body...the goal...Maintain the height of the truck regardless of load...put three adults on the back seat and the compressor will fill the springs with air to keep it at the same level as when no one is in the truck, ie..add weight and it lifts it back up to stock height. Only one compressor for both springs. Pretty simple device, just that air bags are rubber so they get old and crack...probably need replacement after 10 years depending on climate, the amount of salt that is used on roads.
