Tire size dilemma...
Hey guys, so I just purchased a new set of aftermarket wheels for the GX since I'm needing new tires to go with it. The wheels specs is 17' x 8.5" with 0 offset. Initially I planned on installing 285/75/17 tires on stock height. I seriously thought I saw someone do it without major modifications, just slight cutting on the inner fender, but now can't find this info anywhere, and every post I see with this tire size are all about lifting and major rubbing. Is there any recommendations I can get for a proper fitment without needing a lift? Thanks in advance, and truly appreciate it.

Well, now I find the thread, but turns out it has 18" x 9" wheels and is on 285/60. So now I'm wondering, if I can get away with 285 65 or 70?
Here's the thread for anyone:

Well, thanks for the help. Bit the bullet this morning and got 285/70/17 Toyo Open Country A/T II. There’s a very minor rubbing and can be fixed without needing to cut anything.

The 285/70/17 fit with very minor modding to the fender liners and step board, no cutting needed. I don't have photos of how I did it, but the front part of the fender liners mounting hole, was basically relocated further back to pull it more towards the front. The corner tab of the front bumper was heated and bent upwards, and was still used as a mounting point for the fender liners. I haven't reworked the running board, but the guys at 714 Tires basically drilled a couple of holes to the lower part, looped a couple of zipties to the holes, and another strapped to the bracket of the running board to pull it backwards. I will eventually make a bracket where it will screw the lower part of the running board cover to pull it further back. It only hits the tires when turning because it kinda sags at the bottom part due to it not mounted to solid part.
I love the stance of the offset compared to stock. Now I think I need a lift. LOL
And oh yeah, you can have a laugh at our license plate, we love word plays here in Organized Garage. My last name is Valdes, and that's just a word play on Juan Valdez, the number coffee in Colombia.

Looks great and I really like the stance too. What wheels are these?
How is the ride with Toyo Open Country? I have Nitto Terra Grapplers on mine - while I love the aggressive look, they are a bit loud for my taste. I've heard that Toyo's are quieter and ride smoother, so considering switching to these when it is time.

They’re Relations Race Wheels. Really great specs and hub centric.17x8.5 0offset. The Toyo’s are great. You feel a little bit more of the road, but that’s expected on 285’s. It kinda whistles at highway speeds, but very very faint. Your passengers wouldn’t even tell. I’m just really meticulous that’s why I can hear it.
