Well i just bought a GX470. In NY the roads are not the smoothest and best. I am in Search of a fairly priced tire(s) that ll suit the weather changes and have a decent ride. Any recommendations ??

I just put on a set of 265/70-17 Hankook Dynapro A/T M and I've liked them so far (only had them for ~3k miles). They're a lot quieter than the garbage Fuzion's I replaced and a lot more aggressive for when the snow flies. Severe Snow Rated, too.

At ~$115/ corner, they didn't break the bank. I bought mine from Walmart and had them installed elsewhere (the size I listed above is just a bit bigger than stock -- the biggest you can run with no lift and no rubbing.)

Michelin LT tire has been the best fit for this truck.

i agree. They are up to,the LTX/MS2 DEFENDER version...certainly the best choice, but also one of the more expensive choices...the owner of the place I buy from has toured the Michelin plant....a sterile environment, high quality control.

I like my Duratracs, but they may be a bit more aggressive than you need.



They're supposed to be an excellent tire for snow - I'll find out soon enough, lol.

I have the Michelin LTs and they're a good tire, but if I were to replace them with another street tire I'd go with the Goodyear TripleTred - I'm willing to give up some life on the tire in return for more grip in the wet (I'm OK with a tire that only lasts 50k miles). They're a directional pattern so rotations would have to be same-side only.

chip, I had these tires on my wife’s Murano and had a TON of issues with them. Two tires were out of round, they were tough to balance, and I got less than 20k out of them with 5k rotations and two alignments. To compare, got BFG long trails to replace them and no issues, had almost 20k miles on them before I traded the car in, and had well over 50% tread left. Living in akron gives more insight from friends and family that work or did work at GY and it’s not the same company it used to be. I am a huge fan of the duratracs myself, but may never buy Goodyear after all those issues.

Yeah, you may have to go through several replacements to get a set that balance without a baseball sized weight on the wheel. Their production quality is poor. But the tread design is quite good.

A man that lived across from my parents was a VP or something for Michelin in SC, and he was telling me about when they bought BF Goodrich in the late 80's. First thing they did was clean up the factory - it had rubber chunks and carbon black everywhere and wasn't a good or safe place to work.As a result, the employees were happy and made better tires.

Anything Michelin for sure and I also had good experience with General Grabbers HTS, comparable to Michelins and a lot more inexpensive.

Any one have experience with the CRUGEN HT51?

It is the top of the chart on tirerack.com especially when you compare the price to the Michelin LTX which is in second. I have no doubt the Michelin LTX is a great tire, but is it worth the extra cost compare to the CRUGEN HT51 that actually rates higher for a lot less $.

I actually have those on my ride and I got them from Tire Rack as well. Great tires. So far I've only put about 5k miles on them and they are holding up nicely. Not too noisy, has great traction in the rain and is nice ride. I haven't tested them out in the snow yet.
