Need the Schematics for the ML Amplifier-Anyone?
My Mark Levinson amp has a blown transistor due to a short in the wiring,my repair technician needs the schematics of the unit to repair. Can anyone provide these or give info on how to obtain them.
I called my Lexus parts and service dept. but they were no help stating that i need to call Mark Levinson directly.I did this and when I asked the tech for the schematics he said that the "symptoms you describe are a common complaint but I am almost 100% sure its not our amp, they are virtually indestructible unless liquid is spilled on them. The cause is almost always the cassett player in the Pioneer head unit."According to my repair guy it is the amp, blown transistor.
Defending his product I understand,he told me to remove the head unit and send that and the amp to them for repair, the head unit is much less to repair.
Anyways,he said they do not give out the schematics, perhaps if people knew how to fix them they are losing business?
BTW,this is the same place that offeres the repair on ebay for $475,so if you choose this route it is being repaired by the ML factory techs.

My own follow-up to this question-
does anyone know much about a site called www.alldata.com?I read somewhere here that you need to go the public library, I assume because the info is free there.
I went to the library and brought up the site but it requires a payment to access repair info.I didnt want to pay to then find out the site doesnt have info on the ML schematics for the amplifier.
Is their a way to access what repair info is available there before paying?

If blown x-sistor is only issue for sure. Finding it really does not call for schematics. Real technician can deal with it w/o schematics. I am a retired EE and hobbyist on
electronic stuffs repairing gears with vacuum tubes, stereo amps, even circuit board with SMT components. Many times schematics are not available but with proper
tools repair job can be successful.

Chances are very low of finding schematics - they're usually copyrighted and the firms don't release them to make the Chinese cloners' jobs harder.
