2004 GX 470 4x4 High Low Selector stuck in Neutral
Hi all,
First off, thanks for the add. I am the proud new owner of an 2004 GX with 103K. I don't know how much cross over there is to tundrasolutions. But, I own a 2000 Tundra, and I've been over there for a while as Listen Up Sonny.
Anyway, I purchased the truck with two issues:
1. The 90K maintenance has been "defered." LOL. I'm getting it into the shop for timing belt, waterpump, pulleys, and seals. I am going to do the spark plugs and fluids.
2. The issue I am still trying to figure out is that the dash shift indicator light for the High/Low gear shifter is stuck in Neutral. By this, I mean no matter where you shift the gear, the light indicates "N." I don't believe the transfer case is actually stuck in neutral since the car drives fine. I can get the center differential to lock and unlock. I am not sure if the transfer case will shift into Low as I couldn't really tell when testing it on a dirt low.
Does anyone have experience with this or suggestions?
Thanks

The dash neutral light refers to the trucks height . You can raise the height to H or L or N [ normal ] Make sure that the height control switch on the center console is not turned off.. When you go over a certain speed the trucks height will automatically return to normal N.
The console shifter has L low N Neutral and H High [ You will mostly run truck in High . That shifter should only be moved when your are at a complete stop
You should read the owners manual it is fully explained there

Pole Position
Yes, the green LED on the console is the air suspension height indicator, not the transfer case position.
You will get a red light on the dash if the transfer case is in neutral and the gearshift is in park. This is to alert you of a roll-away risk (having the transfer case in neutral means the parking pawl inside the transmission does nothing). If you want to test this yourself, do it on flat ground with the handbrake on, and nothing expensive nearby that you could roll into...
