Default Cool Installations - Part II - K40

I think the team at Difeo Lexus (Bound Brook) have truly outdone themselves with this... I know not everyone is a fan of K40 but my issue was to make the installation as inobstrusive as possible...I think they did a FANTASTIC job....I am ecstatic. Contact Joe Fass (sales) or George Polzer (Service) if you want your dealer to do something similar.

This is the on/off/volume switch....placed in the blank next to the "2nd gear" switch....

LEDs are mounted flush to the top of the bezel of the speedometer....note small "holes" on either side of the speedomter glass screws. They are flush with the glass and essentially invisible when not illuminated.

Default Prices

K40+LoJack+Phone = $2000

At a non-Lexus installer, the K40 (Radar+Laser) is typically about $1299 installed but like everything is negotiable. The list price at Lexus is $1500.

how much of a discount does the LoJack give you on your Insurance, is it enough that in time the reduced Insurance rates will offset the price of LoJack and then it will benefit you by actually saving more money making up for the price you paid

Regarding the installation, I know the company that get's all of Difeo Lexus' installation business (Gino's). They are located in Piscataway, NJ. You can go there directly to save quite a few bucks. I had my Moto T720 installed by them and it is a first class installation. Just wanted to throw that out to anyone interested.

Default Its all about negotiation

'Gino' did do the T720 installation...Difeo did the K40. I suppose you can go directly to Gino, but I let Lexus deal with Gino because I wanted to make the dealer responsible for making me happy (which they did)....not some other third-party.

As for saving money...maybe/maybe not. I think I negotiated a pretty sweet deal from the dealer (see previous posts) but of course I had the "leverage" of a new car purchase. If one goes to install the phone without that I suppose "direct to Gino" would eliminate the middle-man's profit.

I think the average savings ranges from 5-15% off your comprehensive insurance. Here in NYC I am saving about $100/year. Not enough to "pay for itself" but thats not why I bought it. It does help defray the cost and just like the K40, was purchased to avoid hassles in the future.

I agree, getting a new car you can work a good deal on them. I would do the same thing to have them take responsibility. My car is getting quite old so I didn't have that luxury.

Regardless, your set up is very, very sweet. I'd like to see pics of your t720 setup as well.

Default He KnicksFan, about the T720

I've noticed you installed your Motorola T720 cell phone in your GX. It looks really clean! I too have a T720 and I want to do the same thing. However, I looked all over the Motorola and Verizon website for the that hands-free car adapter that integrates into the ML audio. Where did you get it? The one I saw was only for the Motorola V6x series.

Thanks!
