Hitch-mounted cargo carrier?
Has anyone had any issues with using a hitch-mounted cargo carrier on a GX with the exhaust coming straight out the rear? Will the hot exhaust gases melt or damage cargo on the carrier? Looking at buying a GX and will need to use a cargo carrier for gas cans for our boat @ the lake, I don't want to transport the gas cans inside the vehicle.

You'll be fine. There are no flames coming from exhaust 
When you're driving, you have more than enough air to keep fumes behind the car. Your exhaust is pointed backwards, not up.
