Anyone replaced a fender flare themselves?
I was trying to be nice and pull the wife's GX into our 1 car garage since it was so cold outside. Long story short, the drivers side, rear fender flare got into a fight with the side of the garage and lost. The portion of th flare attached to the door has a big paint scrape from the wood moulding and I plan on trying some rubbing compound on that. The bigger issue is that the portion directly above the weel is now about 3/8 of an inch off of the body. I may try to remove it and put it back on in the correct position. If the house paint doesn't come off, I may replace the whole thing. Wondering if anyone has attempted this and how difficult of a job it will be?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Lead Lap
I haven't tackled that particular problem yet, but have had to work on the right rear fender flare/bumper transition, as the bumper skin popped out when I backed into a pole. No real damage, just misaligned plastic.
The reason I replied to your post is that during the above described repair, I found that once you start removing screws and exposing the bits & pieces, it's easy & straight-forward to see how things were put together originally, and you "should" be able to get your flare back on reasonably easy--at least I hope so. I would try it, as you can't really hurt anything, IMHO.
Rubbing compound & then some polishing compound should remove the house paint. Don't rub too hard in one spot as you could rub through the clear coat.

Ditto here, except it's just paint damage, and it was my new-driver kid who used my truck as a scratching post instead of the garage. So I have a truck flare to do also! I too need to take off the flare to prep and paint it. I'm going to try it was an amateur. If I achieve decent results, I'm going to try doing my rear bumper cover. If I keep the GX as long as I expect, perhaps a total pro paint job will happen down the road. But for now I'll be happy to treat the more noticeable imperfections. Keep us posted regarding the challenge level to reworking the flare. Good luck!

Pole Position
I have a rear 1 that I am trying to figure out! I am going to the body shop soon that is Lexus certified, I am going to ask them for a parts diagram and how the EF they are put on! As soon as I get something, I will share it. They owe me a favor, so I will ask for front and rear, not just what I need. I have hunted for some info and cant find anything!
