Update: So after taking into the dealership they couldn't find any issue with the braking system but they couldn't confirm it wouldn't happen again we sold the car. I just couldn't take a risk that the brakes would fail with me or my 1 year old son in the car.

I ended up selling it to carmax for a low sum and took what money I could get and bought a 2011 Toyota. I am so disappointed with my Lexus experience I doubt I'll ever be back.

Good luck to everyone and hope no one else ends up going through what I did.

I started pumping them and after the 4 or 5 pumps the booster kicked back in the the normal feel of the pedal returned.

'Does anyone know if this is a common occurrence with these cars?

I'm taking it tomorrow to carmax to get a quote on what they would pay me and I've very much considering unloading this thing and being down with Lexus.

I wouldn't have taken that risk either especially since it seems to be an intermittent problem and Lexus couldn't find anything wrong.

I'm assuming you didn't mention anything to Carmax when you sold it to them. If you did, props to you, if you didn't I would add something to your VIN to at least make buyers aware of a potential serious problem:

GOD forbid the new owners have the same problem you did and crash get hurt / die and or hurt / kill others without ever knowing there was a pre-existing problem.

Hate to bring an old thread back up, but qhats the consensus with this check engine code? Family friend has a gx with this code and wants me to fix it for him. Is it the air pump and the two valves?

I have the same issue. I just ordered a bypass kit. Did you get yours fixed?
